Wow. So the last time one of them wasn't in the final was when Del Potro won his maiden slam against Federer. In-fact the latter three slams of that year were all contested by Federer and one player outside the top 4 (Soderling, Roddick and Del Potro).
That's a pretty impressive stat.
Amazing they've never actually met in a final considering that.

Worth noting that in 2011 they were drawn in the same half in all four slams. Would be interesting to see how many times they were in the same half actually, might have a look tomorrow if I remember.

I'm up for that!
I can't speak for Andy, but I suspect it would kill me! My nerves are still shot after that last game at Wimbles! Still, the more the lad wins, the easier it will be, on me as well as him!
I still think he's got to be favourite for Wimbledon, and well in with a chance at the USO. A good run at RG would be great.

Well done to Stan, but I wish Andy would get lucky in a slam final with a wounded Rafa! Maybe in France.

Judy describes watching Andy as a cross between seasickness and a heart attack. That is exactly it! But the trophies are a nice pill to aid recovery.

Plus Stan got an injured opponent in R1, a W/O in R3, Djokovic who couldn't close out the deal in the QF and an injured Nadal in the final. You can only beat the players in front of you at the end of the day much like when the stars aligned for Andy at Wimbledon with Roger and Rafa out early.
Hopefully this will give Andy the belief that maybe he could sneak a French Open and maybe complete the set in Australia next year and by that time hopefully he'll be 100%.

She's right! The trophies do help though, no doubt
.
I still thank God Judy stood up during that last game at Wimbles. When she was going 'it's ok, it's ok', it might not have done a thing for Andy, but it helped me no end

So nobody picked Wawrinka to win the AO then? thoroughly disappointed in everyone, shocking lack of insight.
