Will Andy be BBC Sports Personality this Year?

Quote

On another related topic, I'm always a bit surprised to remember that Greg Rudeski won in 97.  I know he made the final of the US Open, buy, hey, no disrespect intended - it must have been a quiet year for British sport........
I can't find out who the nominees were but Rusedski won, as you say, Henman was second and Steve Redgrave third, so it would seem that tennis ruled that year.  As far as I can see though 1997 was a better year for British teams than it was was for individual sportsmen/women.

In the last seven years Murray's win was by the highest margin, had the highest proportion of votes and was only second in total votes to Wiggins last year.
So overall Murray really has done better than most of us thought.

I think you could look at Andy's landslide victory in three ways. Firstly it's a personal triumph for him. Secondly it demonstrates a shift in how people see him, and thirdly it has the added benefit of getting right up the noses of Andy's detractors. The thought of how annoyed the idiots would be when Andy was announced as the winner last night fills me with glee!
Glee , me to TJ . Just so pleased for Andy , no one can say he's not popular now !! Smile

Why would I feel regret about my opinion? That's what it was, an opinion. But they who will not named overreacted.
No Gangsta....That was not 'just' an opinion! That was a 'deliberate' wind up! You could see you were upsetting people and yet you carried on regardless! Maybe that was the intention......to upset people, because you think it's funny? That's 'playground' behaviour Gangsta and it's also a really fast way to lose friends! If that's truly what you want, then just carry on as you are, but if not......then a little apology might be in order! Think about it!

Yes it was an opinion, me wanting to put his career before his PR is my opinion/desire whatever you want to call it, for the rest no, no and no.

That's what we 'all' want Gangsta, but you are smart enough to know that doesn't apply in this case and so is everyone else! Still...... if you want to carry on as you did last night then that's up to you, but I hope you don't regret it, because good friends are hard to come by!

I voiced my desires Sunday night, it wouldn't be very kind if people fell out with other people for voicing an opinion.

Stop hiding behind the 'it's just my opinion' crap. If your opinion's bullshit then people will call you up on it.

If your opinion is offensive or deluded then clearly people are going to 'fall out' with you.

Maybe it's time you started to live in the real world.
