It means EVERYTHING to those who receive it. That's blatantly obvious. I don't know what planet you're from, but I often wish you'd go back there and I wish that there could be a mature adults only arm to this forum !!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't need to be so rude. Adults aren't the only inhabitants of this planet y'know?

More than anything it cements Murray's place as one of Britain's greatest ever sportsman. He joins many British greats from ALL sports.
Magic - love it...

Elly that's a lovely remark, must use it myself really funny! Didn't Andy look gorgeous?
I wouldn't if I were you, at least not north of the border. Lovely it most certainly isn't!

Francis Keogh @HonestFrank
Andy Murray won BBC Sports Personality award with more than 50% of the vote - 401,470 of the 717,454 votes cast #SPOTY
Thanks for that Dani. Am so pleased Andy won with over 50% of the votes. Not surprised though.

I registered and then couldn't vote because I live in the states so I went to Twitter and read it there. I am so proud of Andy. He should be so totally happy and proud of himself can't wait to see the videos that you all put out here. Kudos to all of you for getting out the vote.

Given the pressure that the lad has been under ever since he first appeared at Wimbledon to win it, getting SPOTY by such a high margin is so well deserved. I can't think of any other British sportsperson who has had to operate under the weight of a nations expectation for so long. You can tell how much it meant to him by the way he was choking up about it. I loved the fist pump as well. Our lad is well on the way to becoming a national treasure.

Well if people couldn't hear that his voice with cracking with emotion, then they need their ears tested.
Exactly.
I just wonder if this was personally more important to him than we might have thought. Not in terms of the trophy, that sort of thing, but in the sense that it's basically a public vote. It sort of seals his place in the public affections. There will always be idiots, unfortunately. Every sportsman, celeb etc, has a level of that, but Andy's gone through all of that, people focusing on negativity etc, and he's come out on top. The public seem to have really embraced him now and this award shows it.
