Wimbledon 2016 Final: Andy Murray vs Milos Raonic

Quote

lol I should say that more often.

It was an option I was going to go for too but then I don't want to jinx anything as I haven't voted in any of the previous rounds. Whistle

I'd forgotten about Stan, and unsporting though it might sound, I really do want Andy to win more Slams than he has because he darned well deserves to!
Couldn't agree more, but I have been told off for saying that. He has put in so much work, effort, call it what you will and I'm as apprehensive as you, Deb and all, I don't think we're going to enjoy this match very much, Aileen but if he wins...........

Decided I'm taking the day off work so I can manage this as well as the Euro final without having to stay up all night, or try to avoid results at work during the day.

The courts at Queens are quicker than Wimbledon. This probably helped Raonic there.

Jake Garner will be the umpire this afternoon. This will be his second Wimbledon final, having been in the chair in 2010.

My top pick is always Eva Asderaki-Moore. But Jake Garner comes close.

Yeah Garner is probably my favourite umpire, he also did the 2012 US Open final.

forget the jitters folks Andy has been here before Wimbledon centre court is his home court
Raonic is the new boy here
Andy will win  as long as he does not get injured  I am certain of it
I hope those of us lucky enough to have a ticket to watch this afternoon remember those of us, me included who will be glued to their tv sets or computers
  Go for it Andy

I'm torn between the jitters and over-confidence on this one, bennie.     Listening to Billie Jean yesterday after the ladies' final, she went on to talk about Andy.    I didn't realise she was such a fan.   She said no-one defends better than him, no-one volleys better than him and he is not appreciated enough because his tennis is so subtle.    She also wants to smack him when he loses it on court!!!!   At the time I thought that's great - this guy cannot lose the final but in the cold light of day I'm a bit nervous.    Not looking forward to this but that's partly because I so dislike Raonic's tennis.    Hate the waiting.

I'm exactly the same, Deb.    I don't think I've ever wished for the match to be over before it's even started but I definitely feel like that today.   I'll go water my hanging baskets to keep calm!!

I wonder if the weight of denying history will crush the unexperienced Raonic when it comes to Slam finals.

Today will be an interesting encounter of blood (hopefully not!), sweat and tears.

It may not be Roger or Novak staring Murray down on the other side of the net. But, underestimating someone as proven as Raonic, even with Murray's experience in these situations could prove dangerous.

I'm with both of you.  Much as I like the idea of seeing a final live, when things get tense, it's nice to take a breather.
