The much discussed Mixed Doubles partnership of Andy Murray and Serena Williams will take to the lawns of the All England Club on Saturday evening. Arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, and the greatest British player of the Open Era, both supreme athletes, both on a journey back to the upper levels of the sport. Their combined star-power brings added excitement to the Mixed Doubles draw.

They open against recent French Open Men’s Doubles champion Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi. Mies is a former US college player, who hold ones ATP Tour doubles title, and ten ATP Challenger titles. He has not won a match on grass. this season, but reached the round of sixteen at The Championships in 2018, losing to the eventual champions Mike Bryan and Jack Sock. Guarachi has never got beyond the first round of a slam in Women’s Doubles, but holds one WTA title, and twenty ITF doubles titles. In the run-up to Wimbledon she reached the quarterfinals in the doubles draws at Nottingham and Mallorca.

The match is scheduled to be played not before 5.30pm, and is likely to be annouced for either Centre Court or Court One, whichever court completes singles play for the day first. Both Andy and Serena are scheduled to play matches earlier in the day, starting at 1pm.

Can't wait for this one. At least we wont be cowering behind the sofa this time, as we did when Laura was serving.

I think Andy and Serena will be formidable opponents.  I’d be bricking it if they were at the other side of the net! nervous

Andreas Mies is ranked 22 in doubles.    Probably hasn't played much on grass.
