Wimbledon MD R1: A Murray/J Murray vs R Hijikata/J Peers

Amazing match , and fantastic tribute to a very special
man .  We shall really miss him , really great to see how
much he is loved .  Many of us have loved him from way
back  and believed in him through good times and bad.
So strong and determined , and just GREAT . ❤️
Yet throughout it all Andy has never changed.  Still the same unassuming lad from Dunblane with a cheeky sense of humour who had faith in his own abilities despite all the ups and downs of his career.

For those who missed it, although it doesn't show the brief montage of Andy's career which preceded it.

Someone pointed out that one of the reasons we all feel it so much is that it represents an end to a nearly 20-year stage of our own lives as well as Andy's. I cried like it was a funeral...

I did the same.  It's going to a while before I can really come to terms with it.

During his press conference after leaving Centre Court, Andy said, "When the video was playing, my head was spinning a lot. I know I'm about to have to speak. It's difficult in those moments 'cause there's a lot of people you want to thank and address, but it is not easy. It was pretty emotional, as well. Yeah, watching the video was nice, but hard as well, for me because you know it's coming to the end of something that you've absolutely loved doing for such a long time. So that's difficult."

For me it’s the end of an era, but I’m thinking it’s not the end of following Andy Murray. He loves tennis to much to totally stop anything tennis. At least I’m hoping. Never the less, I am feeling very sad.

I don't know really, but he has said in the past that he'll probably step away from tennis for a while and then come back to it, maybe as a coach - and he would be great at coaching youngsters.  It is the end of an era though with so many other top players having retired or about to do so.

Thank you Aileen for your very informative
messages on Andy over the years . You have
been amazing on your reporting.  Well done.

Hopefully we have the mixed doubles to lift
our hearts again . It was very special
watching Andy and Jamie play yesterday and the
crowd support .what a lovely hug too .

Well I still have not recovered from yesterday, so emotional was crying my eyes out and this morning I am still  so sad like I lost someone, feeling very sad.

Does anyone else feel like they are in mourning?  I went to daughters for dinner and the fireworks and I just was quiet during the whole thing and got up this morning still feeling very down. I wanted them to win so bad yesterday. I hope he still intends on playing the mixed doubles and I hope they win that match, you know leave on a high. I hope he’s allowed to play in the Olympics one last time.

Andy has been chosen for Team GB at the Olympics in both singles and doubles, and he's said he still intends to play there.

I know what you mean about mourning.  It took me ages to get to sleep last night just thinking about it all.  While I don't feel all that sad today, I do feel  drained and can't find anything to do that interests me all that much.
