CANCELLED AS RADUCANU PULLS OUT WITH WRIST PROBLEMS


Marcelo Arevalo (33) is a Salvadoran player currently ranked No. 7 in doubles.  He has won twelve career ATP Tour doubles titles, including two Grand Slam titles at the French Open - in 2022 with partner Jean-Julien Rojer and in 2024 with Mate Pavic - and reached the final of the mixed doubles at the US Open in 2021 partnering Giuliana Olmos.

Zhang Shuai (35) is currently ranked No. 56 in doubles but has been as high as No. 2.  She is a two-time major champion in women's doubles, having won the 2019 Australian Open and the 2021 US Open, both alongside Samantha Stosur.  She also finished runner-up at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships with Elise Mertens.

Playing together at this year's French Open, they reached the quarter-finals where they lost to Neal Skupski/Desirae Krawczyk.

Feel gutted for Andy, but at least it wasn't due to him that the match was cancelled.   I admit that with Emma's history of wrist problems, I did wonder if it was wise for her to agree to play in the first place.

Yes such a shame , but may be for the best .
It would have been lovely , I imagined lots of smiles and laughter in between serious play .

Hopefully with lots of rest and exercises the Olympics
will be successful again for Andy.

It would have been fun to watch but in some ways Andy’s match with Jamie and the tribute afterwards was a fitting end.

I forgot Emma isn’t going to the Olympics.  If she was they could have played in Paris.

I'm just having my say. Days earlier I read that Raducanu said why was their match on when England was on, I thought nothing of it to be honest. Then having read that she pulled out for having a stiff wrist and cancelled the match with Andy, after being see out earlier practicing I just find a bit to convenient. Glad he did not plan to play Olympics as she might have let him down.

I admit that I didn't see the sarcasm in Judy's tweet because I didn't realise it was in response to another one.  That said, I agree that the only comments which should have been published were those from Andy himself had he chosen to make any.  Now all she's done is stir up unwanted comments about both Andy and Emma in the media.

Sorry, I can't remove anything from the home page, and nor would Mark do it.  It's a match thread anyway, so even if cancelled it has to stay there.  I could remove the pic but as it also has Andy in it, I don't see the problem, and nor did anyone object when I posted a pic of Andy with Dan Evans. confused
