Sandgren wins7-5 both players played well lots of 25-30 shot rallies but Andy had problem with forehands. Andy made many great shots at net. Served very well. Keep trying Andy.

BUMMER!!  Agree about the FHs though.  He was making far too many UEs with those.

He was thinking of playing a Challenger during the USO, so I really hope he goes for it.

Breakfast with Andy for me. I switched in with the TB, which was very tight and came down to one point. Then an up and down second set where I had the feeling as if Andy was playing without a first serve. In the end, Sandgren was helped over the line by his better serving. All in all, a close match.

AAAAAH!
I see from comments serve was up the creek and forehand off.
Forehand UEs could be put down to rust, but what's up with his serve? Wasn't great during the doubles.

I see the article on the BBC site. Glad to see him express the idea of a challenger event next week in Mallorca where he talks about it being easier to win matches. It is what he needs now.
Nearly but not quite prepared enough again last night.

He will fly home from Winston-Salem on Tuesday but is actively considering whether to compete in next week's Challenger event in Mallorca.

"I think for my body it would be a good thing because I do feel at that level I will be winning matches each week," Murray added.

"And I think it would be good for my game as well because I'm not quite seeing the points as I used to. And if I can get more matches, I'll start to work that out a little bit quicker, and see it faster.

"I would probably rather stay playing outdoors because the next couple of tour events I'm playing are outdoors in Asia, but I haven't given it tonnes of thought."

Let us hope he follows up on that. Take the family for a holiday too?

I didn’t see the Tennys the menace match.  I suppose this is what dipping his toe in the water is all about.   Seeing where the rust is.  Didn’t Wawrinka and Del Potro go to Challenger events after their injuries?
