Do you think your tennis will improve now with that Andy racket?   Lucky Prod.

Last point:  I hope that Mirka does. I thought she started it last year?
I didn't see the actual match, but from what I've read Mirka was indeed the guilty party.

Wow Prod!  Lucky you getting the racquet because I wondered at the time who did!

She was bitchy.    Disgraceful.    Whistle     Now I thought she looked very frumpy the other night.     Rolling Eyes

I don't think some people actually understand what some of us mean by tanking. It's not the level of tanking someone like Fognini would stoop to where it's blatant. For this event, i think tanking means not being prepared to give much more than is required.  Unlike Rafa today who was prepared to go to nearly 3 hours in a dead rubber, Andy wasn't ever going to give this tournament that much commitment. He wasn't going to invest in his usual reserves to get the job done, he gave enough as he permitted himself. That was enough for Ferrer, but wasn't enough for Stan or Rafa.

He may well have lost to them both but i refuse to believe he would have gotten straght setted by either under normal circumstances. maybe i'm alone in thinking that.

Only one good thing has come out of the o2 for Andy is he has had no injury. I actually think this may have played a lot onhis mind. With his back which can be troublesem and that certaintly would have been the worst thing for him and the GB team. He has to go away from this event and now focus on the Davis Cup after all he has been thinking about this since the semi finals and his singles game has suffered because of this event around the corner. Once he has won the DC I think we will have Andt back playing as he can.Good luck Andy for the DC.

OMG, this is so cool. The only thing I liked about yesterday is that he took the time to put his bag down and take his broken racquet to give it to a fan lol. Lucky you, Prod!

Re the coaching situation, he should have got rid of Mauresmo as soon as she said she was pregnant. May sound harsh, but her priorities (quite rightly) are now with her baby, not with her coaching. And Bjorkman seems to have done nothing for Andy.

Don't know where you live but there are equality laws against that sort of discriminatory idiocy in the UK. If he had done something like that - thankfully he hasn't - I'd have lost all respect for him and would have expected him to get sued.

Nothing to do with discrimination. She has a baby and travelling around the world as a professional coach is not fair on that baby. I don't know much about Amelie's personal life, but it would surely affect her ability to be the coach that Andy so desperately needs at the moment.

At the end of the day, if you can't do the job to the best of your ability for whatever reason, don't do it.

Thanks for the explanation because I didn't realise that that is what was meant and if that is what he was about then fair enough. Better that than he has lost form badly. I do understand his wish to win the David Cup, GB have  come so far and it would be a super achievement for GB to win it this year. PROD. Well done with the racquet! So glad it went to an MW person.

Firing, sacking, ceasing employment etc of a woman because she is pregnant or has a baby/child is discrimination. Doing the same because a woman is on maternity leave is discrimination.

Looks like when Amelie returns for the off-season training block she'll have taken 5 months maternity leave. That's 3/4 months less than statutory maternity leave in the UK - depending what part of December that training block happens in.

When Amelie joined Team Murray, she was certainly "pregnant" with the idea of starting a family. So from the very beginning this coaching relationship was somehow overshadowed for me, in hindsight of course. Full commitment is hardly possible, now that the baby is there. if she could have been expected one or the other match of Andy's I don't know.  Neither can I judge the influence of Björkman, tbh. What I have observed this year is that his BH was firing again, that he took a more offensive approach incl. more net play. He did not always succeed. Nevertheless, I would like him to keep on playing like that, coached by whomever.
