Andy has achieved nearly everything a tennis player can achieve in his career. The only trophy that is missing is the WTF title. It has been a long journey and even if he does not win tonight, his achievements cannot be praises enough. Andy has made steady progress over the years, and it was exciting to follow him to the top. Nothing can spoil that for me. And as someone has said: we fans know better that Djokovic's reign may only be short. Come on, Andy!

Yep. I think Andy's only chance is to win the 1st set. And the 2nd.
Agreed. If he is able to do just that, he'd be in a pretty strong position.

Surely he's due a win over him in a big match isn't he? I guess something feels appropriate about the season ending with one final showdown between the top 2 players for the ranking.

Well he did win in their second from last encounter, which was a fairly big match.

As usual, I can't focus on all the work I have for the day because of this big match. Heart says Andy, mind says Nole.

I wanted Andy to face Nole in the finals but now, it just seems unfair after his easier route to the finals and Andy slogging away. Andy keeps mentioning about the crowd and fantastic atmosphere in his interviews and I hope they're backing Andy a lot more than Nole.

Here's a nice picture of them. I don't like Nole as much as I used to but I still think that he's a nice person.

Oh and Raonic had some really kind words for Andy after the match - I will try to find his interview.

The match last night was so stressfull I couldn't imagine
how tot hold a racket (I could barely watch), not to imagine how to play tennis on this level.

A win tonight would be incredible and outstanding. On home soil, against Novak, in a tournament he'd always struggled with. To stay the number one. Besides his brother.

And if this turned out a little bit too much (mentally) I hope he still will be very satisfied.

First of all welcome to Simon50 and thanks for that positive first post/
I think my worry about tiredness isn't so much to do with stamina etc but with his ability to play his game and play it well.  Yesterday he didn't and didn't seem to be feeling the ball at all well but sheer grit got him through. Against Stan he did, taking it to him and he was hitting the ball beautifully.  Perhaps that's nothing to do with tiredness?   But I can't help but feeling that perhaps mental fatigue might play a role and he has emphasised how stressful yesterday's match was [blimey it was stressful enough for us there watching and shouting so I can't imagine how he felt!).
Incidentally I read on the bbc website that he checked into a local hotel last night rather than go home, which must be a sensible move.

Like everyone else on this site I hope Andy wins but don't think he will. I think he will be too tired. Novak will happily play long rallies all day long, normally Andy plays like this as well but Andy will have to take chances to shorten the points, this is hiis only hope. If both player were fit on top form, then you could not choose a winner but Andy is mentally and physically tired and his first serve has 'gone walk about', I expect Novak to win in 2.  really hope I am wrong.

I'm not over hopeful either, but in some ways that will make for easier viewing. Always happy to be surprised though!

He needs to play "nothing to lose" tennis and come out playing aggressively. No grinding from the baseline please, Andy.
C'mon  superman

Hate to be the bringer of bad news but Annabel Croft has just said that Andy definitely looked tired in his practice earlier on - lacked spring in the legs.  And someone else said he was moving stiffly (but then he often does when he's just walking round).
I agree about keeping the points short but I imagine to do that he needs to feel he's hitting the ball well.  If he doesn't, like yesterday, then I guess it feels safer to grind in the hope that your opponent will crack first.  But of course when your opponent is the wall/machine called Novak that's not very productive.
I don't know about others but I didn't feel Novak has been playing as brilliantly the last couple of days as all the comms seem to think. Novak himself talked about almost flawless tennis. Well it sure wasn't flawless against Goffin.   What I saw of the match against Kei (and I left after first set as I'd had enough) he was playing fine but no more than that - and he didn't need to in either case because he was playing against players who looked like they didn't believe they could win.

Hi everyone and welcome Simon to this great site.

Last night I watched the match via DVR and got to the point before the end and it went off.  Oh man I was so mad and hope the match is on YouTube so I can see the end. Andy played his heart out and deserves to win today. We just have to send him,it's of good vibes, certainly the crowd will.
So good luck Andy. Have belief in yourself, you didn't get this far because you weren't a fighter. Stay focused and don't let the little things bother you, you are a smart player, use those smarts to defeat Novak. I believe I believe.

Alas I think Andy will be doing well to get a few games on the board.
