1st set Bu 6-4, and the 2nd 6-2.  Bu has a very fast and accurate serve which gained him a lot of points, while Cam made too many UEs.

Madrid R1.  Norrie vs Martin Landaluce.

Landaluce won the 1st set 7-6(4), Cam the 2nd 7-5, saving a match point in the process, and the 3rd 6-4.  Good win because Cam was fighting the crowd as well as his Spanish opponent.

Play s Jiri Lehecka next.

1st set, Cam was outplayed at the beginning of the set, but fought back from 5-3 down to take the tiebreak 8-6.

2nd set, Cam got the break at 2-2.  At 4-2 Cam, an increasingly frustrated Popyrin survived being broken.  5-4 Cam served the match out at 23:30 CEST, much to the relief of the half-frozen spectators.  It was a great performance by Cam, so if he can keep this level up hopefuly he can start climbing back up the rankings, this win alone taking his ranking up nine places to No. 81.

He now has the pleasure of playing Djokovic in the semis.

10.00am Medvedev v NORRIE
Missed the first two sets, but Cam won the first two 7-5, 6-3 and Med the 3rd 6-4 - Cam had break points but failed to take them.  Med then spent time discussing with his coach and went on to take the 4th 6-1.

5th set - 11 minute first game but Cam finally held serve, then got broken in the third game.  4-5 Cam got the break, saving an MP in the process, then consolidated.  At 6-5 Cam again broke Med to take the match.  yay

This win alone puts Cam's ranking up 7 places to No. 74.

Plays LL Federico Agustin Gomez next.

1st set Cam 7-6(9-7).  Cam got off to a good start, but just when it looked like a routine match, Gomez upped his level and came back from 5-2 down to force the TB, then fought back again from 6-2 down.

Gomez's little spurt didn't last, so Cam took the next two sets 6-2,  6-1, although to give Gomez his due he kept on fighting in the 3rd despite having mobility problems.
