Washington, R1:  I didn't see the match, but Dan lost 4-6, 1-6 against Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka, ranked #77, after appearing to struggle in the early afternoon heat (it was 36C/97F!) and losing 9 of the final 10 games.

I felt bad for Dan in this heat. I'm 200 miles further north and it's still not just really hot but very humid—and Washington is always really humid anyway.

Thanks Tamara.  It doesn't sound at all pleasant!

I'm now watching Kyle's match which has just started, so it'll be interesting to see how he copes.

The good news is that Dan has qualified for the main draw in Montreal.

^ Impressive!  Thanks TD.   Also people talk about how quickly Andy moved round the court, but Dan comes a very close second.

Dan wins his first round in Montreal, against De Minuar, live rankings he is up to 43, practically where he was before, well done Dan he has worked very hard to come back and put the past behind him.
Faces Nadal next!

Yeah seems to lack that little bit of belief when its do or die,
But he has talent, and seems to making the most of it, could stay in the world top 50 for a good few years
Quite convinced Dan we be the British no 1 by year end, unless Kyle gets his act together.

^ I really like him and admire him too. Pity he's on the short side, as we live in the age of tennis giants, I do think that is a disadvantage.  Courts are so slow being nippy on your feet doesn't give you the same advantage it used to.

I didn't see this coming because Dan was having so much success with Felgate as his coach.  No reasons given for the split either.

Dan is seeded #5 in Winston-Salem.  Has a bye into R2 where he'll play the winner of Johnson/Moutet.

Grr!  According to Amazon Prime the match hasn’t started yet, but there are already  3 games on the scoreboard.

Prime are still not showing Dan, at the moment he is a break down in the first set.
