Interesting article for which thanks. I still think though that she should get a permanent coach and a decent fitness trainer - but in order to do that she needs to stop being dictated to by her father, even if it means moving away from home, because he's had far too much say in her hiring and firing of coaches and no doubt has his own views on fitness trainers as well.

Outplayed and outclassed by Caroline Garcia in R2 though, and even the huge crowd support did nothing to help. It'll be interesting to see where Emma goes from here because she needed a wake-up call like this.

Crowd were poor. Half weren't even there at the start, no atmosphere and she got broken straight away. Wish they could get more keen sports fans at Wimbledon generally.

I missed the very beginning of the match so can't speak for that, only for what I saw, but players can't go depending on crowd support all the time.

No you can't unfortunately. Maybe it might help if they let more genuine tennis lovers in.

For instance the crowd which are there on those third Mondays, they're genuine tennis fans.

Thanks Tonedial. Pretty disgraceful when all that most of these people do is wine and dine with a little bit of tennis thrown in - but then that's always been the case. However not turning up to watch the likes of Andy and Emma shows a distinct lack of respect for British players.

In the UK there are far too many people who think tennis exists only 2 weeks each year, if you ask them about other tournaments they have no idea what you're talking about. I wonder how many people who are late coming into the matches, or who leave the court before they're even finished, could tell us who are the top 3 ranked male players and who are the top 3 female players. Also have these spectators any idea what it means that there aren't any ranking points from playing at Wimbledon this year. and why?? I even came across someone, this week, who said is Wimbledon a grand slam? Oh really, I despair.
