Very Happy Brits won, doubles was exciting.

Speaking of Andy I understand that he next plans to travel to China and prepare for Zhuhai. I think Cam was due to be there too.  (edited)
They are but they'd better move themselves because the tournie starts on the 20th!

Thank you Aileen, I thought that too but then looked at the tournament website that had a contradictory count down clock!  I suppose that the organisers may have factored in a second day start for those playing in Davis Cup. I have not seen details for the draw (or when it is being made).

^ I can't find out when the draw is, or very much else, either.

That doubles match was such a thriller! I was out playing tennis myself at a very bad moment, when Dan had lost the first set of the singles to Fils and was down an early break in the second. I had to keep checking the scores on my changeovers and couldn't believe it when he recovered to win the whole thing! I feel for Cam, don't think he did much wrong against Humbert, it was a very tight match. As for the doubles...I thought it was all over when Dan went down love-40 on his serve with those three match points! Could hardly bear to watch. And Neal came up with an ace on the fourth match point! No question, Dan was the hero of the week.

GB have been drawn against Serbia in the last 8 in Malaga (21-26 November).

Djokovic, who won with Serbia in 2010, says the competition is his top priority for the rest of the season.

But the ties will be the best-of-three matches, and Serbia do not have any other singles players in the top 30.

"We've topped this group so we expect to get a kinder draw in the quarter-finals but it's not panned out that way," Great Britain captain Leon Smith told BBC Sport.

"But you know what, we deserve to be there - and we've got a chance against anyone. It doesn't matter if Novak plays for Serbia, or anything else. You've got to win two [singles] rubbers and a doubles and that's what we've proved to be good at."

GB have named an unchanged team for November's Davis Cup quarter-final against Serbia in Malaga.

Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans, Andy Murray and Jack Draper bested Australia, Switzerland and France in Manchester last month to qualify.  Doubles specialist Neal Skupski also reappears alongside the quartet

Sad, but not surprising - https://www.thenational.scot/sport/23886823.dan-evans-pulls-davis-cup-quarter-final-serbia/    Was watching the match when Dan suddenly pulled up in agony running down a ball.  Looked to me like he'd torn his calf muscle because he could barely hobble off the court, and having done similar to myself once, I know how painful it can be.

Jack Draper recovered twice to win against David Goffin in Bergamo today. He lost the first set 6-1 then won a tight second on a tie break and to cap that lost his first service game and was 0-40 down at 0-2 but saved the game to be at 1-2 then followed three service breaks to get back to 3-3 from which point he then won the next three games to win the decider 6-3. Would have liked to have watched that.

A good confidence build for him & team playing DC in Malaga. Perhaps Leon might play him this time. I think that you have to accept a loss against Novak and see who is best to win the other singles. Probably think about Andy for the doubles as he is reliable at that so Jack could end up with the singles.

Jack more than proved his worth against Mannarino, and now we know Andy is in the team, then, as play goes with player's rankings, I'd think Cam vs Djokovic, Jack vs Serbia's No. 2 Laslo Djere, with Andy in the doubles would be good.

I see Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski have nominated themselves for the doubles -

According to the BBC, Andy cannot play in Málaga due to a minor shoulder issue. More trouble for the team.

Extremely unfortunate, I agree.  Liam Broady has been called up in his place, but that really leaves us with Cam Norrie and Jack Draper for the singles against Serbia, and as the teams go by rankings Norrie would have to play Djokovic anyway.

I am afraid it does not matter who plays against Djokovic. In the end, it will come down to the second single and the double.
