Maths, English, Geography, French, Business Management (all at Higher level) Smile

These exams determine whether I'll be going to university or not and whether I leave school or not this year.

ok so do you have to pass a certain number? and then do you repeat them if you don't go to uni? x(",)x

Entry qualifications for the course I want to do at uni are BBBB.

If I do fail any of them, then I can re-sit in my sixth year. Don't want to do that though. no

No, and yes ish.

Highers are given a number of points by UCAS (university and college applications service)

Each course at University has a specific number of points required as a minimum. If you reach this total, you can apply and be acepted to that course.

However, certain courses are very competitive, therefore only maximum points (AAAAA grades for example) will do, and even then some courses need you to attend interviews as do some universities.

In 5th Year in Scotland (i.e. 2nd last year of school) You sit highers if you want to go to University. If you achieve sufficient grades, you may be accepted on to a University course you have applied to. That's what andrew is waiting for.

Or, if you do not get good grades or fail, you can resit some Highers in 6th year (the last year in scotland).

Or, if you do get good grades, you can stay on into 6th year and sit either more Highers, or Advanced Higher qualifications.

Advanced Highers can allow a jump into the second year of a degree programme, and are generally at the level of 1st Year University courses in scotland. (however, I had an offer for a 2nd year course in England based on sufficient Advanced Higher Grades)
