With details now out, the gaming community have completely and utterly destroyed Xbox One. You will have a hard time finding a single positive opinion. Microsoft are screwed.

Sony absolutely killed it with their announcement. The offline play and allowing shared games got the biggest cheers, then being $100 sealed it. Game over already. Microsoft will surely have to backtrack on the used games thing now given the backlash. In fact, I wonder if Sony were going to do it anyway then quickly changed their mind after seeing how people reacted to Micrsoft's announcement.
PS4 looks very tempting, only negative being that you have to pay out for a PS+ membership to play online which has always been free with the PS3, compared to Microsoft who have always charged for online play. Only just got my first PS3 in September last year though (the new super slim bundled with FIFA 13 on release day) so wouldn't be planning on getting the next console for at least a couple of years. Maybe the release of FIFA 15 which should be in late September next year might be the time if they bundle them together for a good deal.

Negative in the sense it's a requirement for online play but PS+ is actually really good value for money when you consider the free games you get with it each month.

True it looks good value but I'm not so sure in New Zealand. How big are full game downloads out of interest? In NZ with relatively slow broadband and restrictive monthly bandwidth limits it's just not always feasible to be downloading things that are several gigabytes in size. I find it annoying enough when I put my game in and get told I have to download an update (or even worse - the dreaded system update) before I can play it so I then have to wait up to half an hour or more.
As an aside, how are you findind the Oculus Rift?

I was turned off by the Xbox One straight after their press conference. Just ridiculous. Thankfully the PS4 have taken full advantage of it, rather than adopting similar methods. I was pleasantly surprised by their price though, although still peeved that it costs far more in Europe than in the States.
Definitely a PS4 for me, but I'm happy to give it a year first anyway. Will get a PS3 in a couple of weeks (really looking forward to The Last Of Us - lots of gamers reviews matching those of the gaming websites, and a fair few people lauding it as the greatest game they've ever played), and recently got the Uncharted trilogy and Heavy Rain (for £34 combined from Cex.. not bad).
Got Bioshock Infinite recently as well, so playing that at the moment. Still making steady progress on Tennis Elbow too.
Into 2015, broke the top 30 after making the AO QFs (USO 2014 was first time I got past the first round), before losing in four to Murray (who then lost to Stebe of all people.. who then won the whole thing).

Still waiting for them to ship. I suspect I'll have it next month.

Does anyone know if the PS4 will play PS3 games? I have a bunch of PS3 games that I want to keep, but a broken PS3, and seen as the PS4 is not far from it's release date I am thinking of holding off to purchase this.

You'll enjoy Uncharted mate. I got all 3 quite cheaply online when I got my PS3 late last year and am about 75% through the 2nd one at the moment. I haven't really played many games like this before, it's usually been mostly sport. Great value as they take a good amount of time to complete and I can see myself replaying them again after a year too. Got stuck on a couple of really hard bits in Uncharted 2 so far that have taken me a long time to pass even on normal difficulty so it's a really good challenge.

Oh right, thought the picture you posted was of your kit. Be interested to hear your thoughts once you've used it. Here's another game for you to look forward to on it:

OculusRift just got $16m funding from the people that brought Twitter and Tumblr to mass market, and they're now in the board of directors as well.
It's coming and it's going to be BIG.

And predictably Microsoft have now reversed their online and used game policies. They'll still need to match Sony's price though.

I wasn't sure they'd do it as they seemed so arrogant about it all.
