I had no idea SoF2 had an active community - has never entered my radar over the last decade. How many severs have people in it at any given time?
The problem with the game is that beginners have to study it a lot, it has versions that many people don't even know about, we played this ard 2 years ago with the tennisforum friends, then we always found servers with enough people to have fun matches.
The hardcore ones like those MDK/HsS people organize the clanwars on forums, i just checked, they're making fairplay cup in 2017 too. So the game is doing fine.
http://www.demobase.eu/index.php/topic/26752-fairplay-cup2017/
BTW played other shooter games too like America's Army online, but this game is something that you can't stop, so the oldies always come together to 1v1, 2v2 or clanwars.

Why do people want to play the 'Demo' rather than full game?
Must be nice to have a tight community like that where everyone knows everyone. Reminds me of the early days of CS where people had their favourite servers because they knew each other.

Demo works a bit differently, also 3rd person view is not used in the clanwars there. It has only 1 big map also, called Shop, which is considered the most "pro" clanwar map, it has many edges, storeys, wires to climb, bunkers, kitchens, elevators to defend, so people agree it tests people's skills in many combat situations best. However, it is used mostly for infiltration wars, for deathmatch and ctf they use full, because of the maps, this is a cool deathmatch video: it has i think the jordan map too which is also from CS
Yes the community is awesome, sometimes i catch a buddy or 2 on net for 1v1 duelling or just jumping ard and chatting. jumping in this game is an art in itself, i think you know about the strafe-jumping thingy in Quake 3 engine
So a deathmatch cup summary, you can see how well thought out the maps are in this game, also how awesome the gameplay is compared to the new shooter games, it was a work of joy by the devs
oh, and don't forget the community mods like hide and seek
and more fun, like dancing competitions

Funny watching the videos... feels like being taken back in a time machine. Not only are the graphics so dated but so is the video editing

Yes hahaha i love that about it most
very nostalgic
The video editing is much better in this video, it was done by the Swedish player Slizer, who made many of the game's mods: there are many MDK members in this vid
very pro players
and here are some shots of us tennis forum players playing:
Here we were in an infiltration server, there were some HsS members too, there was HsS hda too, he's russian and very funny, he has a bind in russian colours saying "for mother russia"
Here Betty was still learning that's why she had that ratio, also she didn't know yet how to refresh her stats
Here i was teaching Javi strafe-jumping
Here we were playing 2 vs 2, Betty was already much better, i was sucking here:
and this is a fun match with some Intel members:

That's more watchable
Back before YouTube I did a frag movie and it got a few thousand manual downloads which I was quite proud about. But my god, it's a tedious process.

Grats for that
yes it's tedious but the people had fun watching it and these videos/pics bring back good memories
I have thousands of vids and pics saved from sof2 and other games, America's Army was so good with its achievement system. I played that a lot after i quit the clan life in sof2. Now that's a very realistic game, loved the medic part and all, also sniping on those huge maps was lots of fun.
Atm playing Path of Exile, it's good cause you can grind anytime solo when you have free time. It's like Diablo but more complex, actually lots of people came over from diablo because that game is not only expensive but it's also dumbed down. It's basically a dungeon crawler game but as i said everything is more complex than in Diablo. The skills, the crafting, the gameplay. The community is great, both on reddit and the official forum. The builds you can make in this game are infinite. Also you can play it in any way you want to, some people are using it as a trading simulator and they're just trading all day, some are collectors and they collect alt art race reward items, there are farmers, etc etc. Many do boss carry services for less skilled players so everybody finds in the game what they want to.
Atm playing the breach league, enjoying it a lot, it's a very rippy league (it's easy to die) but the rewards are great. Got the demonic wings after 36 challenges which look great, (tom when i log in will make ss of them
) Also had luck with a rare axe drop which i crafted into an excellent item
Lol on the forums there are all kinds of wars, elitists vs scrub, HC vs softcore players, supporters vs leechers, so the drama never stops there

So here are the things i got in the Path of Exile Breach League, first the Demonic Wings
They are exclusive to this league, later players won't be able to get it. That goes for the footprints effect and the Breach portal too. You get these things as you complete 12, 24 and 36 challenges, ofc the wings were the hardest to get.
This is the gear i'm using, the chest is a 6L Belly of the Beast The sword is a 6L Starforge, The phys roll and the life are max rolls
only the attack speed is not max, in standard league the cheapest i saw with these rolls was ard 35 Exalted orbs, i got this in the league for 9,5
I have an old one too with Queen's Decree skin, that one looks better but the sword itself is not 6L yet and worse rolls too so now it's resting in the stash, it looks so much better with that skin though but ran out of skin transfer microtransactions so can't put it on the new sword
And this is my pride and joy this league, the 1H axe i crafted
it's very hard to craft something like this, on a rare item there can be 3-6 mods, on this one there were 4, the 2 top roll phys mods which are prefixes and 2 useless suffixes. Used prefixes can't be changed master craft which cost 2 Exes to remove those then mastercrafted multimod, bleed, crit and AS, this is like the Ancestral Warchief dream axe, ofc i won't sell it
The hard thing about crafting is that you have to get the top tier mods you need which is already like you won the lottery AND at the same time you have to not have the mods you don't need. like if it had had another prefix or suffix the crafting would have failed cause i wouldn't have been able to take off the bad suffixes and then put the bleed prefix (2 divine orbs to craft) and the useful suffixes.
And here's an Abyssus helmet i got for 3 Exes at the start of the league, it was a steal!!! The 2 most important mods, the crit multi and the damage taken mod are perfect roll, only the stat and the armour mods are not max but those don't count on this helmet.
i'm using this in breaches where there's a timer and the clear speed is very important
The game is lots of fun
it's free to dl and play, you have to pay only if you want things like more stash tabs to trade and keep your loot in (which is not necessary, there's a guy called Dead Peng, a Chinese uni student who is one of the top players who uses only the 4 tabs every player gets and he's doing just fine) or if you want to buy skins for you gear or just to support the company

Gears of War games are fun but a bit too consolish for me. If i had to play a modern shooter i would play America's Army Proving Ground, before that played AA3, very realistic and the gameplay is complex, it's the official game of the US army btw. Got all the medals in that game. Also checked out S.K.I.L.L. that's also a bit dumbed down and CoD like but it is fun, lol they have leagues where they compete for money
We used to do cups for money too in SoF 2, it was fun, the players themselves threw the money together but the DeathMatch cup was always won by the same player and that sucked

I have zero skill when it comes to FPS games - I just can't do it.
GoW works well for me as it's pretty simple and a lot of fun, even though I'm awful at it.
Another game I've spent a lot of hours on of late is FTL on the PC - a lot of depth for something so seemingly basic!

I see, well, unless you're a streamer who plays for a living it's best to play what's fun and relaxing.
I haven't tried FTL yet but it looks cool, atm playing Path of Exile only, it's good cause i can just run it in the background and run a map or 2 when i have free minutes.
lol those streamers are funny. The most successful is called Mathil, he's the best budget player we know about. He plays the game for a living. He's known for beating the hardest content even with 5 link budget gear, this is him:
The best female player is I_NO, she's hilariously funny, she's a rich girl, spent thousands of $ on supporter packs, so she doesn't play for a living like Mathil but she's cool anyway, in Essence league she carried me on the first shaper run cause i wanted to have the challenges asap but didn't want to waste guardian fragments on learning the fight not knowing whether i was going to have the currency to buy more if i failed. Later i killed the shaper solo too ofc. This is her, she made a divination card which has the girl with a heart so she made a real life version of the pic, i don't know if it's a pig or what kind of heart
Just making that card cost her 1000$!!! And from the next patch designing divination cards will cost 2500$
This is the icon of the divination card she designed:
and this is her:
BTW she's known for getting all the 40 challenges the fastest or among the fastest, often in 1 week, she must sleep like 2-3 hours lol. Also she's a very skilled trader, she gets lots of Mirrors of Kalandra (the rarest currency item) every league.
I often envy the streamers who play for money but then sometimes i see them wasted after days of no sleep and then i'm glad i'm not a streamer

Oh my, i didn't notice this thread before on the PoE forum, so the asian student called Dead Peng i talked about before is transgender and he's been taking estrogen, also he's saving up for the operation.
Before today the only thing i knew about the guy was that he got to lvl 100 in some league and that he used only the basic 4 stash tabs, i mean just game related stuff, this was shocking to me
There's his photo too in the thread, he really looks like a girl:

So yesterday they announced the new expansion, The Fall of Oriath!!! this is is something huge!!!!! 'til now the game had 4 acts*3 with 3 difficulties, now they'll remove the cruel and the merciless difficulties and the game will have 10 acts, that means levelling will be more interesting
The expansion will come in June but before there will be another 3 month league which will be cool cause you'll have a good chance to get a Headhunter belt relatively cheap. So a good time to start playing for new people
