If Gov wants to go ahead with High Speed Train it will  be compulsorily purchasing willy nilly. Oh but...but..that's for the good of the country.... doh or  so we've been told. Yeah right.  Rolling Eyes
The Right whine about the" politicising of Grenfell" but fail to mention the politics behind this disaster.
Oh that's a surprise.... Rolling Eyes
The older I get the more injustice I see and the more left wing I get.

Who's talking about compulsory purchases? I thought the Corbynites were all about just taking the property owned by people with more money than them?

Compulsory purchases take time and, crucially, require compensating the owner for the market value, the cost of moving to a new property as well as additional compensation on top of that.

Using public money to forcibly buy mansions in Kensington owned by people with enough money to hire entire armies of lawyers seems like a hugely wasteful thing to do.

No Corbyn explicitly mentioned it as an option.

Maybe it's because I'm a keen student of history, and am aware that communism is an evil that's resulted in death and destruction far exceeding anything the Right has ever managed. Think

Any sources on the relative body count associated with Communist V liberal capitalist regimes over the past two centuries? Genuine question, I don't know.

But regardless of that I do think Communism was unparalled human catastrophe

Then he's even more stupid than I thought.

Oh right because seizing it would be better. Try to be consistent!

Over two centuries? Not that I know of. I'm not sure how you'd calculate "excess deaths" for liberal capitalist regimes? Or even what a liberal capitalist regime is?

In the 20th century we have good counts for the excesses of the left and right though. Mao, Stalin and Pot inflated things dramatically...

Well, no. Seizing it would at leat be consistent with his beliefs. A very stupid idea indeed, but ideologically consistent all the same.

Yeh well pretty good figures for Mao, Stalin, Hitler and totalitarian regimes. But for deaths linked to other western regimes, i've seen figures bandied but can't estimate how accurate - only pretty partisan groups contemplating it much in terms of what I've seen....

Agreed lots of methodological problems, and also what we count as left or right e.g. sone see fascism as coming from left, whereas some on left saw Stalinism as 'state capitalist'. What about china now - communist or authoritarian capitalist?

Just watching special parliament session on the tower.

Corbyn v good again, quite amazing how well he is now performing. To be fair May has been pretty decent under intense questioning. Some great floor questions, particularly from Yvette Cooper.

Alarmingly it has been confirmed thst combustible cladding is in use elsewhere right now

Boom!

More humiliation for the nasty incompetents flailing to run our country. High court judge rules policy is causing 'real misery for no good purpose'

Well, he didn't shit himself in public. Still doing that infinite-run-on-sentence with shouty emphasis on random words thing though. I guess the bar is low, and the spectacles are rose coloured? Kinda Trump like in that regard.

I wonder if there's a building regulation covering this?

Good. Capping benefits is sensible. The way that cap was applied to single parents was not.

Honestly we get that you hate him, fair enough. But when you reach a stage of saying he is 'even more stupid' for advocating a less worse policy then its getting a bit churlish.
