Not like you to go against the science is it?  How surprising.

Because The Science doesn't say that; The Science is at best inconclusive. This is quite clearly an election stunt! lol

Good grief  shocking Agree.
But seriously are you really advocating dependency on fossil fuel?

No, I'm not. Unfortunately we can't yet transition to 100% renewables so in the interim we need to burn something - and I'd much rather have a domestic source of natural gas rather than build a further dependency on some very bad foreign actors.

Fair enough. Peace breaking out on MW. We live in strange times, indeed.

I think it was Caz, and me too - anyway I'm pleased
I wouldn't get too excited if I were you.  My understanding from what I heard on Radio 4 news earlier is that until further evidence is considered, fracking won't be banned outright.  In other word what Westminster is probably going to do is what the Scottish govt have been doing for some years now, i.e. sitting on the fence by saying yes, we'll ban it, but stopping short of passing the legislation banning it outright.  It could well be just an election stunt anyway, as @boogers says, in which case nothing is likely to change.

As for natural gas, the latest thinking on the climate change front is that the carbon-heavy gas boilers in millions of homes are now being held partly responsible for causing it -  https://www.wired.co.uk/article/central-heating-gas-boiler-climate-change

Terrible decision - dramatically increases our reliance on the likes of Russia and the UAE. Not good.
It's not a permanent U-Turn they're just trying to win votes for this election or should I say stop Labour gaining votes since Labour are proposing to ban it.

They'll soon U-U-Turn down the line, much the same as this vast sum of public money they've suddenly decided to be spending.

I'm not particularly excited but the fracking was/is in North Yorkshire and I don't think it's necessary to have it … but anyway
