As usual boogers, you are talking bullshit I have always liked Sean Connery long before I joined the SNP. Politics have nothing to do with his acting career. He had a foundation which gave assistance to young Scots he deserves praise for that alone.

Or are you so biased that you cannot give praise where praise in due?

Also, no clear message from Boris Johnson for the furlough scheme to be applied in Scotland, as usual, his answer very ambiguous. Not unusual for Johnson is it.

It's not that ambiguous. Boring grievance finder finds a grievance, turns out to be wrong. News at ten.

Wrong I am watching Nicola Sturgeon at the moment. She has stated that the furlough scheme for Scotland has not been agreed as to how much and when it would begin.

Obviously not. You aren't in lockdown.

Give it a rest you two.   I thought we'd been talking about a deceased film star not politics!

Watching the news tonight I see that Top Shop and shops in the Philip Green franchise are going into liquidation. I hope the workers in those shops take quick action regarding their pensions. When British Home stores were sold the next owner helped himself to their contributions towards their pensions.

As well as losing their pensions they also lost their jobs and had to fight to get the money they were owed. I remember Philip Green being questioned by MP's in Parliament were he was very rude and would not answer questions.

It is time when companies go into liquidation that workers pensions are protected by law and situations like that never happen again. I think the law on this type of situation should be tightened up.

^ Apart from the fact that Green should never again be allowed to own a business, and should have been stripped of his knighthood  years ago, I think, although I'm not entirely sure, that all workers' pensions are covered by The Pension Protection Fund - https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/pension-protection-fund

Unfortunately due to the covid pandemic the Arcadia Group are not the only big companies to suffer, Debenhams having called in administrators in April, although according to The Times they're still in exclusive talks with JD Sports Fashion about a rescue deal.  The parent company of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Jaeger and Peacocks, has also appointed administrators.  Meanwhile goodness knows how many small businesses have sunk completely - and the pandemic is nowhere near over yet.

I am watching the news on TV there are demonstrations in London about not being able to gather together the police are arresting people who are not keeping to social distancing. The police are trying to keep them apart and there have been a lot of pushing and shoving going on.

Hope there is no trouble and people should accept the rules for the good of everyone. It is really not worth it all it does is making people more susceptible to the virus.

I think they've been protesting about the vaccine as well, probably because Boris has just appointed a Health Minister to oversee its rollout -

The problem is that you can't expect to control 65 million people and expect them all to meekly observe the covid restrictions.

In The Observer today the headline is "Angry Tory MP.s turn on Gove after "overwhelmed NHS claims.

Michael Gove is stating the above from an article in the above newspaper. He is claiming that the NHS and the newly constructed Nightingale hospitals could be overwhelmed. Apparently, this was why a second lockdown has been imposed as the Nightingale Hospitals were at capacity.

This is untrue he was attempting to force rebel Tory MP,s into line saying they had to take responsibility for difficult decisions in the national interest. The NHS has confirmed that only 2 out of 7 Nightingale Hospitals had begun to admit patients.

Andy Burnham the mayor of Greater Manchester says the government are using scare tactics to try and browbeat them into accepting level 3 restrictions which would give no further support for those in their 1 or 2.

Many tory MP's are unhappy that their counties are being informed that they will be in tier 2 or 3 and that this is a deliberate act of levelling down and this would give their councils no extra support.

And the bottom line re Nightingale Hospitals is that there aren't enough staff to run them anyway!
