I suppose they wouldn't have known Andy's schedule so they couldn't have known if he'd be free to go to it. Did they know Federer's schedule so they could safely ask him and Mirka?

Maybe they didn't want to invite him anyway?  Or he was but declined because of his schedule?

This from a gushing Fed fan yuk - https://www.buzzfeed.com/tasneemnashrulla/love-all-of-roger-federer?

^  Oh I don't even want to read this link!  How could anyone say that Fed stole the show - Pippa looked lovely and Fed's looking quite old really.  Fed fans gush 4ever, but Fed can't even play the FO - he's a has-been!
I think Andy probably said he would be in Rome at the time.

Horrific!  But where were the security people at that concert because these are exactly the sort of venues which are prime targets for terrorists?  Not only should people have had bags checked, but the premises should have been thoroughly searched before anyone entered the arena.  Also I suspect many people were trampled on in the panic to leave the arena and killed or injured that way rather than as a result of the explosion itself.  It was suggested earlier too that the explosion was caused by a massive electrical fault since it happened just as the lights were switched back on - but will ever find out unless a terrorist group claims that they did it?

Sad and horrible news. If it's a terrorist attack, FFS kids at a pop concert? No words.

It appears to have been a suicide bomber.

I hope it doesn't, as nothing would encourage such attacks more than if they could have a clear political effect. Boosting xenophobic populism would be an outcome they would like.

I pray that May and Corbyn show unity on this - no expoitting the Corbyn-IRA thing at this time, and no stupid ' well i condemn all bombing' stuff from the Labour front bench. I don't rate either of them but here is a chance for them to do the right thing.

Alas probably too much to hope that UKIP won't use this....
