Ok so he'll keep his title - I suppose we have to go along with their decision.
It looks like it, unfortunately.

I don't like having to edit a post, it looks as if you might have changed your mind or something like that.  I'd really prefer to re-write it than to edit it, but I can't always be bothered to delete, re-write etc etc and all that .....
Nearly everyone edits their posts, so I don't know why that should worry you.  I often edit mine because I've made a mistake, not because I've changed my mind - and there's no law that says you can't do that either.

I still prefer not to edit my posts.  But it's all right if others want to do that.
I think - but I'm not sure, if you edit a post quite quickly, i.e. a spelling error or something, and if you edit it nearly straight after you write the post, and you don't actually leave the page where you first wrote it, then it doesn't show as having been edited.
I think it works that way -
Does this really matter ??

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I'm strongly against inappropriate censorship (and I don't know enough about Gab to say it is deserving of censorship), on the other if a site contravenes the AUP of a third party service it shouldn't be a surprise if it's cut off.
Why would anyone tolerate websites which allow white supremacists and Jew hating nazis to blog their views? Once such vile stuff is given a platform it is only a matter of time before killings take place. Censorship must happen and the worst excesses of the internet must be curbed just as happens in all other areas of communication.  Those who oppose any censorship are irresponsible.

You just described Twitter. And that's one of the major issues here - the hypocrisy of it all.

The online actions of that terrorist went against the T&Cs of Gab and they shut down the account once another member reported it. Gab then backed everything up and approached the FBI with the data.

so the control of the content is in the hands of the users . Surely that is not enough. I am not tech person but I am sure these companies could do a lot more to clean up  their act and block this stuff. What is the dark web for example and why is it permitted ? There have been laws for centuries protecting us from offensive and corrupting publications why is it suddenly ok if it is reaching us through a computer? I find it very frightening .

But, would you really like a return of the blasphemy laws?

I don't believe it can be stopped as it's using the Internet infrastructure at its lowest level.

For example, most people will walk the streets and police can block them off but if you really want to get somewhere via the sewer pipes then you probably can.

That's the beauty of the Internet - if someone really wants connect to someone else or express themselves, there is always a way.

I'm so sick of the city traffic that you've given me an idea....Smile

no the blasphemy laws are anachronistic and unenforceable. Should be scrapped. There are existing  laws in Scotland prohibiting offensive publications and the legal test is whether a publication could reasonably be regarded as calculated to deprave  and corrupt the recipient. That would do the trick and eliminate the worst offenders. Most of you would freak out if somebody said these things or showed these images to your kids in the street but seem to be relaxed about it popping up on their phones and iPads. That is inconsistent.

When you put it like that but it's not a reasonable analogy. These images are usually discovered through exploration or through friends rather than your helpless scenario of it being forced onto a child without any control.

Nazi and Jew-hating content is unlikely to randomly pop-up on an ordinary website but if it were to, it would almost certainly be based on your previous browsing activity.

Splitting hairs. On internet people are within a few clicks of terrible images and words which would be illegal elsewhere. It is a dangerous experiment causing significant problems and it needs to be controlled much more responsibly.

Life in Britain for the most vulnerable. I am filled with disgust, shame and sadness.
And, being purely pragmatic, neglect at this end of the social care system will end up being immensely costly economically.

They shouldn't have to live like that -

The austerity falls on to the Tories they don't give a f---for ordinary people. Yet the English vote for them time and again. It is time for working people to make a point and destroy this party. Why do they vote for them?

Wake up you got yourselves into this position time to make them pay big time. Working people have never been so poorly paid even those in full-time work.

The benefits system is a farce and will get worse when this benighted country leaves the EU.

@LB - It isn't just the Tories because Labour were just as bad.  This deplorable state is really the culmination  of years of poor government, and I doubt staying in the EU will make any difference either.
