Piccys from NZ

Hi y'all.  Just a brief update as only got onto internet today and a bit slow as only dial up at the moment.  Kids settled into school life already, despite the awful uniforms!  Hubby busy at work but not settling in as easy!  Me?  Tried to settle in the massive house we've rented but had unexpected lodger in the form of a mouse for last few days!  Guy with axe  Finally caught it yesterday morning and have released it into the nearby fields, warning it never to come back again!  Weather been a bit hit and miss - lovely warm sunshine the last few days but have had the tail end of a cyclone at the beginning of the week.  Cambridge, where we now live is a lovely little town but was surprised to find most shops shut at just after lunchtime today (Saturday).  Hamilton, the nearest city, is only about a 20 minute drive down the road though.  New Zealand reminds me very much of the UK, it's just the odd thing that throws you.  I miss Terry Wogan (but got him on internet now), Bisto gravy granules, IKEA, GEORGE at Asda, football & tennis coverage!  Oh, I was missing Granny Smiths apples but they've just come into season here. I've just thought of something else - a decent cuppa tea!  Luckily they have Gold Blend coffee so I've been sticking to that for now.  Anyway, enough boring stuff about me and mine, a few photo's for you for now - computer so slow at mo, I'll probably wait a bit before uploading more.

Sunrise at Orewa Beach looking North.

Sunrise at Orewa Beach looking South.

Sky Tower - did get closer but makes you feel dizzy looking up when you're closer

Auckland skyline by daybreak coming upto the Harbour Bridge - I'm quite proud of this one since we were travelling in the car at the time and didn't slow down!

Looks great Bev, you'll need to find someone that's willing to send you a care package out every now and then, so you don't miss your favourite things.  :P

Oh my Bev, it looks utterly breath-taking!  It must be really strange for you all though - I remember the feeling well when we moved to Canada, but that was only a short term move.  It'll take time for you all to adjust, but the quality of life you have will be sooo much better!  Hang in there and enjoy what looks to be a wonderful country!   hug

Yes it can, but I'm not everywhere where it's beautiful!  I am here to live not being on holiday.  I will post other pictures as and when I get them but don't be sat waiting as it could be a while!

Yes - it's a nice town, although if I compare to the UK, it reminds me of one of the mining villages/seaside towns/peak districts towns all rolled into one.  Not the sea, which I would really, really like to be beside (can feel a tune coming on  Whistle) but have to go where the work is!  Can look at the coast once the kids have finished school.

Looks nice Bev. I wanna live in London, Edinburgh, somewhere in New Zealand or Austrailia when i get the chance of moving. Prefer big city life as well. New zealand just gained a few extra points. Smile

If you want big city life then I'd recommend Auckland!  I don't like cities but that's one of the nicest I've seen.  Didn't feel uncomfortable there at all.  Save up and give it a try.

We'll see how it goes. After i leave uni the world (in theory) is my oyster. Planning on joining the Police, so New Zealand or Australian forces are always an option. Not worried about leaving family and friends or anything but a littel concerned my dad in particular might miss me. Plenty time to consider  my options anyway.
