I'm very sorry to hear about Jan, the poor soul.  I didn't know her very well but I used to read her posts and she was a nice person. 
I don't know if she had a family but I know they'll miss her very much.  It's so sad when someone dies. 

It is, especially as she and her husband had just moved from Devon to Barry in South Wales to be near her daughter and her female spouse and their 18 month old son.  Her husband gave me the news in a Christmas card, so not the cheeriest of season's greetings, although I'm very glad that she's now free from all the ailments she'd been suffering from, yet despite them all she managed to lead a good reasonably active life and was always cheerful and positive.

It was good of her husband to be in touch with you and to tell you the news in a Christmas card.  (Maybe in a week or two you could tell her husband that members at MW are sorry about Jan)?
It's such a shame that they'd only recently moved to Barry, did they like living there do you know?

Yes, although they'd only been  there for two months before she died, she was settling in well and had some nice trips to the seaside with her husband, Ossie (Oswald).  It's probably just as well that they did move because her daughter just lives a few minute's away.  Ossie got to know me quite well too, so I'll definitely be sending a card as usual and acknowledging his letter by email.

Many thanks for letting us know about Janscribe, Aileen.  Was talking to her via PM not long ago and she was so looking forward to moving near to her daughter, and had such a good outlook.  I’m sure her family will miss her greatly.

I spoke to her last on the phone Elly and she was really excited about the move, particularly seeing her grandson growing up.  I knew she had some health problems, but typical Jan just brushed them off.   She will definitely be missed by all who knew her.

Aileen, I'm very sorry to hear that your good friend Jan has gone. I've had quite a few conversations with her over the years and she was a truly lovely lady! Aye....she'll be sorely missed!
PS.....I meant to say too that though we'll miss her, she'll live on in the lovely articles she wrote! 

She certainly will Caz.   She wrote a lot of articles about her beloved Dartmoor as well for a local society whose name I can't remember, plus a book of Dartmoor stories of which I have a copy.
