Alternatively, if i genuinely don't know that i am doing so people should be able to respond accordingly (either by insulting me back, or telling me that they feel hurt by it - I can then either a) apologise or b) back up my words with reasoning for their being used). I just thought it was a very dick-headish thing for someone to do.  Noone has treated me like that before or since.  Interupting my conversation with someone else to correct my regional grammer is just down right rude!  And saying I had a working class accent was another aswell, good thing you said that over text otherwise I would have made a brew and thrown it in your face
