Listen Andrew it's ok if you believe it, I don't believe in Jesus and god and the like and some people live their lives by that, I'm not saying they are but it's their choice to think like that, as it is mine to think the way I do. It's ok.
As I alluded to, it's an unfair and irrelevant comparison to compare it to religion.
You're only like what, 23, 24? You're starting to think you'll never find mutual love?

I'm not getting my hopes up. And I'm quite content with this. I've never been more at peace with myself than I have now and finding a "mutual love" isn't a life goal. The more people have said to me "it will happen one day" the more I'm less convinced. And its not something I want to hear to be honest, its a load of pish.

I'm not questioning people feeling they are in love with someone, I've been in love. My issue is finding someone else who feels the same and who doesn't come under the points I've already covered.
Oh, it sounded like in this thread that you didn't believe in romantic love at all.
So what you are saying is you don't believe two people in a relationship can love each other? Surely if one person can then just based on probability alone, you can have it equal in some relationships.

Love to me is ....
You will never get the one person you truely love.
If you do, they'll not love you as much as you love them.
You will never get the one person you truely love.
If you think you love another, you will wish it was that person you truely love.

But surely if you believe one person can love in a relationship, then simply by probability, there have to be some couples that love each other?

Forget it, you don't understand. If I go into it everyone will disect all the words so they end up losing all meaning. I think I have explained myself enough.

Seriously, suggesting that everyone out there won't find their "true" love is ridiculous. Sure, some people settle for 2nd best or don't love as much etc, but they usually break up or divorce!
There are millions of examples of people being truly and totally in love with each other.
But until you meet that person that means everything to you and who you mean everything too, nothing else really compares. I thought I was in love with my last gf, but I really wasn't. It was just an upgraded form of "like". What I have now is beyond anything I could ever imagine.

I find your way of thinking very very depressing, Amy. I think being in a relationship where both people truly love each other is the basis for a fulfilled life because no matter what life throws at you, they will always be there for you. All I would ever want is to love someone and someone to love me; above a career, above kids, above my personal health pretty much because they would be the reason why you have a purpose. I know I'm very young and may be romanticising the situation but my parents are well into their 50s and this is how they have lived their life and I admire it.

Well I'm not relying on another person for my future happiness, if I can't do that by myself then thats a pretty sad thing I think. Right now I'm very happy with myself, even though I'm not working - life is good

I don't know if you think pretending to be cynical makes you look cool, but all you are really doing is coming across as naive.

No matter how happy you are with yourself, nothing will mean as much as someone who you are in love with thinking that too.
