So can we assume that those who are voting for Salmond have no qualms about his treatment of women?  It wasn’t illegal so it was okay.   So if their wives/daughters /nieces/girlfriends come home from work and say their boss has been touching them in  an inappropriate way they will just say.  “ Don’t worry, It’s just high jinx.”
What amazes me even more is the large number of women who've joined his party!  I can only assume that they have no objections to being inappropriately touched, either that or they've never had that experience so don't know what it's like to be treated in this way.

..now ex- MP Corrie Wilson, was previously mired in an expenses controversy!
A parcel of rogues comes to mind.

Another two additions are Chris McEleny, an SNP councillor in Inverclyde, who claims that Salmond 'is a man of integrity', who will stand in the West of Scotland, and business woman Cynthia Guthrie, CEO, of the Guthrie Group, who will stand in South of Scotland.

Meanwhile Joanna Cherry has made it plain that her current absence is due entirely to health reasons and that she has no intention of joining Alba.

Incredible.  Truth is definitely stranger than fiction.

I am truly amazed at the female contingent that are joining up - okay he was not found criminally guilty but by his own admission and  that of his defence it was not in line with the post he held.
Also for a man that was previously hated by the British media - they sure are giving him a heck of a lot of air time both on TV and Radio.  His ego must be loving all this attention.  I would have had way more respect for him if he had kept his profile on the down low.  It is ironic that all these people who felt that Sturgeon was disrespecting the women at the centre of the claims are fine with Salmond re-entering the political arena in a glare of national publicity !!!!

Another two women have joined Alba -

Councillor Lynne Anderson, former national equalities convener of the SNP who caused controversy with her support of the anti-trans pressure group For Women Scotland and the author JK Rowling, along with Caroline McAllister, the party's former national women’s convener who was the founder of the SNP Women’s Pledge group which opposes aspects of the Scottish Government’s planned reforms of the Gender Recognition Act.

Well if that doesn't put folk off joining I have no idea what will !!!!
Cannot  understand women who held roles based on equality etc. joining a party formed by a bloke who displayed less than deisrable behaviours towards female employees - is it just me ??????/

While it does seem a bit strange, I think it's case of seeing the politics beyond the man.  For instance, Boris Johnson was a serial adulterer but that didn't stop people joining his party simply because they believed in its policies.

also, the SNP were quite happy to bury claims and rumours against Salmond when he was in charge, so voting for Alba isn't very different to voting for the SNP on that point.

That is a good point and way of thinking about it - I think I must be letting my personal disdain for the man cloud my thinking !!!!  Overall it should be a good thing for the Independence Movement however, I cannot help but think - does he have an ulterior motive and will his ego allow him to see Nicola Sturgeon be the one to deliver independence to Scotland when it has been his unwavering dream for decades.

The Leaders debate tonight should be quite interesting given that Douglas Ross's request to join together with Labour and Lib Dems  in a better together type fashion has been cast aside by both parties - might make for some interesting discussions.

I don't really know the answer to that but such is his self-interest It wouldn't surprise me if his intentions are to get back into Holyrood, build up his own party and become First Minister again whether we get independence of not.

Has this crossed anyone else’s mind?  Was Alex Salmond hoping that Nichola Sturgeon would be forced to resign  so that he could get his old job back further down the line?  It didn’t happen and this is plan B.

I never thought of that but it does sound quite feasible.
