Sturgeon literally talked about independence in her opening statement.
Also you're confusing the minimum wage with the living wage.
Other than that, good post. Lots of value. Excellent effort.
Aologies for the error - I posted whilst on my lunch break - I still think for a socialist who belongs to a party that championed the living wage - to now make profit from not paying it to his family company’s employees is very hypocritical .
Yeah Nicola Sturgeon mentioned it in her opening statement as a caveat to the damage that Brexit is doing to industry sectors in Scotland. Today I have received election leaflets from the Tory Party and the SNP - the Tory leaflet has over 15 mentions of Independence and no other policies whilst the SNP leaflet doesn’t mention it ???? That was my point but thanks for the condescending feedback.
Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine brighter !!!!

Apologies for butting in here, but I noticed that too about the leaflets from the Tories and the SNP. The LibDems mentioned it as well along with a few policies, while the Greens, bless them, rambled on about what they always do. It'll be interesting to see what Labour have to say in their leaflet. Whatever, it's a slap in the face for all those who think that the SNP are solely focussed on independence.

Am glad someone else noticed - not had a Lib Dem one yet and we don’t really get any Greens standing up here. As you say it will be interesting to see if Labour try a different approach this time to cash in on just how unpopular Douglas Ross n his party are right now in Scotland.

It certainly will be particularly as Sarwar isn't too impressed with Ross either. My own MSP is Labour so it'll be interesting to see if he gets re-elected.

Well unlike boogers who continually runs the SNP into the ground some of us take a more strategic look at who we vote for and it will definitely not be the tories. I cannot believe anyone would vote for Ross just a little Boris poodle anyway he has not made up his mind what parliament he is going to stand for. Westminister or Edinburgh. Hope it is Westminister where he will be of very little use to Boris and well rid off in Edinburgh.
If the tories rate him many people in Scotland do not.

Nice one Nicola giving the nurses a 4.0/0 pay rise which they truly deserve just before the Scottish parliament broke up at midnight.
Well the latest news is that GMB Scotland are urging health workers not to accept it because, surprise, surprise, they don't think it's enough,

The leader of GMB Scotland is Karen Leonard the wife of former Labour Leader Richard Leonard. In real terms the pay rise for non nursing staff is 5.4% (domestic and admin staff). I think it’s a pretty good deal and am happy with it as are the Union that I am a member of. We are in difficult times just now but I am glad to have a job when so many don’t.

Thanks MM because I didn't know that and also it probably explains her attitude here. Admittedly I've never worked for the NHS in any capacity but 4% seems reasonable to me, particularly, as you say, nurses and other health workers should count themselves lucky that they actually have a job even if it has been a very stressful year for them. I know personally two people in their 50s who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic and at that age will be very unlikely to get another one unless things pick up dramatically very soon, something which I doubt.
Anyway It'll be interesting to see what result the upcoming ballot produces.

Yes. Go check it yourself if you don't believe me.
It doesn't actually state the number but the list of people is there.
PS - Jim Eadie is one of them so that might come as a bit of shock to Nicola -

No but it's still a fair number after only three days, although admittedly only five of them have any parliamentary experience. Not that that's bothering Alex Salmond -
""The range and diversity of our candidate list will leave the other parties standing and all of us are looking forward to enunciating the entirely positive case for independence to build the supermajority in the Scots Parliament”.

To be fair there is a fair bit of diversity in the specific racist tendencies of the candidates so far, as well as variety in their histories of ethical and criminal violations
