Speaking of SNP hypocrisy...

Pay walled but the headline gives the story.

^ Given that Nicola has trotted off to some women's conference in Italy rather than staying here and doing anything about this mess, why should the rest of us bother our heads about it?   lol

Predictable pretendyref nonsense from the nationalists yesterday. The SC will rule against them and then the grievance machine will crank up to full gear.

Swinney is also now claiming that a simple majority of 30 SNP MP's in Scotland will be a mandate to declare independence.

These people are either mad, desperate or both.

Yes well this whole pantomime seeks to disguise an uncomfortable truth for them - i.e. they are failing to get clear, sustained majority support for independence in opinion polls. If they were, then the pressure on Westminster for another ref would ramp up.

and, if they can't get that an era of: Johnson, weak Labour, cost-of-living crisis, SNP control of Holyrood...no wonder panic is setting in.

Not mad or desperate we in Scotland know all too well that dopy Boris and co will never give permission for an independence vote. So therefore the Scottish government will try other ways to enable one to take place. We all know Boris will do anything to prevent a vote to take place such an idiot leading a bunch of idiots who don't have the balls to get rid of him.

Be assured the SNP and its members will do everything in our power to lead Scotland to independence no matter how long it takes. We will eventually win because we will not give up in trying to make Scotland an independent nation again free to make our own decisions and to rejoin the EU.

"The Sunday Times reports that the UK government is planning to act in the event that the Supreme Court rules later this year that SNP plans to stage indyref2 without UK consent are unlawful.

The newspaper said the plan would require evidence for more than a year that at least 60 per cent of voters want a new referendum on independence before the UK Government would even consider it.

And then if the referendum did take place, at least half of all of Scotland’s electorate would need to vote to leave the union – rather than a majority of more than 50 per cent of those who voted, which was the case with the 2014 independence referendum and the 2016 Brexit vote."

If true, it is more evidence of 'back of a fag packet' idea generation - not encouraging .

BAWHAHAHAHA. You know you've messed it up if even Richard Murphy thinks your plans are crap.

Richard Murphy: SNP currency plans for independence are 'so wrong' I'd switch to No. lol.

Excellent news.  It's long before time that people started standing up to this transgender nonsense.  These MSPs may not have stopped the Bill from going through, but at least it's a start.

The Supreme Court, led by a Scottish Judge, rules that the Scottish Government cannot hold a referendum without consent from Westminster.

In Scotland, we now know what we have known for some time we are treated as a "Colony" and have no rights in our own country to make our own decisions. Instead, we have to ask permission from our lords and masters in Westminister.

This just proves what we have known all along that in Scotland no matter how many people vote for Scotland to be an Independent country the English Government can refuse the Scottish people the right to do so. I always thought we had the right to hold a referendum without their permission but apparently, we do not.

In effect, it means that we have no right to hold a further Independence referendum without their permission we are being treated like a COLONY with no rights whatsoever in the future of our country. So much for DEMOCRACY.

If nothing else it will perhaps open the eyes of Scots who thought they had equal rights no such thing the English will always have a majority no matter how the Scottish people vote.

Interestingly, the SNP attempted to use the "we are a colony" argument. It was extremely distasteful.

Thankfully the SC slapped it down. This should not be a surprise: under UK and international law, a random part of a unitary state does not have the authority to unilaterally declare independence.

As for how to get a second referendum? Simply convince a super majority that independence is the way to go. Instead of bleating on about a second referendum when even the most generous polls show Yes only level with No.

Easier said than done, mind you, when everyone with half a brain knows independence means decades of economic pain...
