The future of British politics

Sky are saying 320.
Still on a knife edge then.

Even worse when they have to bring them from the Western Isles.
How come?  Can nobody there count?

Historical practice in the UK has always been to count in one central location to help keep the ballot secret.

Meanwhile -
"Nicola Sturgeon has said she would “reflect” on her demand for a second independence referendum after a series of high-profile SNP figures including her deputy lost their seats on a terrible night for her party."

Adding -
“I’m not going to take any rash decisions. Clearly I have to reflect on the result of the election and I will take time to do that.  But it would be the wrong thing for me to do at this hour, to take decisions before having had the opportunity to properly think about it but properly think about it I will certainly do."

Come on Nicola - who's kidding who?  The majority of the electorate don't even want one any time soon.

I see.  Well, I understand, but I don't see, really.  It's amazing how historical practice seems to outweigh sense.

Think it's bedtime now, seems somewhat clear of the result hmm.

SF have won a 7th seat. So, 322 seats is enough. If the Cons refuse to put up a deputy speaker, 321 would be enough.

Edinburgh South held by Labour.  Not a surprise, really, given that Ian Murray ran a well organised campaign and also was a popular MP, but the result is!

Massive gain - Around 15,500 votes compared to just over 2,000 in 2015.

Edinburgh South-West taken by the Tories - again as was predicted.

Independence dead. Salmond gone. Robertson gone. Sheila Ahmed gone. Monaghan gone. I'll take that.
