^ Yes I do see now.  I'm still not to sure what Alt was trying to say though because Dr Seuss is primarily known for his children's books, but never mind!

I thought what Althusser said was clear and I don't think it matters where the quotation came from.

Given Alt's attitude towards Caz on this thread, I thought he was perhaps meaning that she was being either childish or naive with her views - but perhaps I'm reading something into this which isn't there.  Shrug

I don't really know but anyway let's forget it, does it matter all that much?

Not really. Just a passing comment on my part.

I'm much more interested in this anyway, which seems like a good idea provided it does get rid of cheap labour and sees EU and other immigrants being paid a living wage because there's no place for modern day slavery in the UK.

It's good you voted - I (still) think Keir Starmer will win - I've thought so for a long time.  Nandy's all right but she isn't doing as well as we'd thought?
6 weeks till the result is like years away.

Nandy won't win, but realistically this campaign has been more about her building her profile both within the party and nationally. This may possibly help set her up for a stronger bid in future. She's performed very well overall (although signing the trans activists pledge card was a mistake imo), but too many members hold her role in the attempted 'coup' against Saint Corbyn in 2016 against her. Never mind that her stance has since been thoroughly vindicated, this is the Labour membership we are dealing with....

The best thing about a Starmer win will be that it will opens up the possibility of appointing a range of talent within the PLP to shadow cabinet posts - Nandy will get a major post I'm sure, and I hope people like Stella Creasy too. Add to that some of the more experienced people who've been exiled in recent years e.g. Yvette Cooper, and you could have a convincing Labour front bench. Still many battles would need to be fought to reduce hard left control in the wider party.

^ While it certainly looks like Starmer will be elected, the important thing for me is that Westminster has a strong leader of the Opposition who can stand up to Johnson and his devious, lying ways.

I saw Nandy on SKY News last night (together with Starmer and RLB) and Nandy came over well I thought.  But yes - no she isn't likely to win.
Starmer was good too.
I think Nandy has possibilities in the future of the Labour Party.
Stella Creasy would be a good choice for Starmer in a Labour Shadow Cabinet.
Why don't MPs get maternity leave, or do they get it these days.

Yes well we do need a strong leader of the Opposition.
