I'm not passing judgement either way, but the argument goes that if you give the NHS a 12.5% pay rise (which is what the Royal College are asking for), then the other public sector unions are going to be asking for similarly large rises.
The other argument is that nurses go into the profession knowing what their salary is going to be, so if money means that much to them, then they should have found another occupation, therefore having chosen to make nursing their career they should stop complaining about their wages and accept the government's offer of a 1% rise.

... And SNP (Scot Gov) and Labour (Welsh Parliament) bungling as well?
Nope, not even close. Dumb story.
(fun game: compare the people boosting this story with those demanding more testing last summer. Near exact overlap)

Ooft. And if annual general cost of living rises don’t keep up with inflation, for a decade or so? They should just shut up and know their place?

Of course they shouldn't. I was merely stating the other side of the argument, which doesn't mean that I agree with it!

They do ,of course, get a yearly increment as well as any pay rise. Primary care admin staff do not and sometimes in the past the GPS did not pass on any governments rise. The nurses were always given the pay rise on top of their incrememt.

well it is a satire on the DM's fascistic streaks, and a tendency in some quarters to downplay right wing violence but emphasise other manifestations

The only thing I noticed was it said the 31st April 1945 which didn't mean much to me . . . But thanks anyway Althusser for your explanation.

I noticed that too but think the date is just an irrelevance.

I would suggest that BJ should be held accountable for the riots in Northern Ireland. He signed a treaty with the EU and went on to break his word without showing any kind of contrition.
It just shows that he is totally unable to keep to agreements he has signed. Perhaps in future, he cannot be trusted to make agreements with other countries and perhaps the people of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland should be extremely careful when making agreements with him that probably will not be complied with.
For a man in his position, you would think he would show some leadership but unfortunately, he seems to be totally irresponsible and not fit to hold the position of PM.
