The future of British politics

It feels a bit like because Penny Mordaunt is a woman she's too much a reflection of Liz ...

Seems rather bad but wouldn't be surprised if that's how the party are seeing it. I guess it didn't help at all either that she chose to back Liz and be in the cabinet.

It feels literally like a "not another women that doesn't know what she's doing" vibe that's been given off.

I'm a lot less confident with my bet now though lol.

Boris out, thank God.

His claims to have 100 votes turned out to be bs - how incredibly out of character Smile.

That's my view as well which is a shame because I quite like her, and I neither like nor trust Sunak, yet it now looks extremely likely that he'll get the job.  The way things are going though he might be gone by Christmas!

Apparently she got 90 backers. Close but no cigar?

I think she could have still very easily won with the Tory Member vote too.

I do think Sunak is the much better choice though. He's an untrustworthy slimy completely self-serving rich posh twat but he is much better for stability and to calm the markets which is exactly what's needed right now, desperately almost. The country's economy is in potential peril, need to put everything else above that unfortunately, including morality.

But I'll happily take my lost bet in this instance haha

I did not properly consider her potential affiliation with Liz Truss correctly (being a woman as part of that unfortunately). As if I forgot to properly incorporate Tory chauvinism into my calculations, live and learn but guess that was a stupid one. haha

^ Oh well, it'd be very strange if we all thought the same wouldn't it!

Mordaunt was objectively a crap candidate. That's why she wasn't selected.

She played her hand badly too. If she'd backed Sunak earlier he might have given her a go at a half decent cabinet position, though not the top one she was hoping for.

I see that Michelle Mone has been in the papers again recently, about the vast profits she has made when she sold PPE to the UK government. She would not have been the only one I wonder how many more Tory MP,s were involved in this.

I wonder if this Tory government has carried out any investigations into their own MP,s making vast profits from their transactions.  In fact, much of the PPE was well below the required standard and was not safe to use.

The British public has the right to know just how much money has been wasted by this Tory Government buying this PPE. Some were already out of date when purchased or not complying with the correct standard required

I wonder if anyone who was involved in the purchase of the PPE has been charged with fraud for selling the UK government goods that were not of the correct standard,

I am sure the people selling substandard products to the British Government should be prosecuted for fraud. We know Mone was one of them she should be prosecuted and made to pay back the money she received in payment for PPE that was not up to the correct standard.

It would be interesting to find out who purchased PPE. If it was to the standard required and how much money was paid by a Tory Government that bought those products and not checking that they were fit for purchase.

lol, you were completely losing your shit over buying toilet roll. It's hardly surprising the government was flailing around trying to buy PPE.

Focus your low quality but unlimited rage and ire on the lack of preparedness.
