U.S. Presidential Election 2016

Is it though? I'm not completely convinced by that. It definitely has a whiff of Brexit about it.

Edit: though largely without the same racist overtones.
If you mean "take back control",  and "we want our country back" I agree. That mantra from Leavers prominent in Better Together rang extremely hollow in Scotland, you may be sure.

Back on thread for a minute - looks like Trump's team will be hauled before a senate intelligence committee on Russian links

And rightly so. I finally got round to reading the entire leaked report. I found this claim the most incendiary:

Quote
Inter alia, Source E, acknowledged that the Russian regime had been behind the recent leak of embarrassing e-mail messages, emanating from the Democratic National Committee (DNC), to the WikiLeaks platform. The reason for using WikiLeaks was "plausible deniabilityā€¯ and the operation had been conducted with the full knowledge and support of Trump and senior members of his campaign team. In return the Trump team had agreed to sideline Russian intervention in Ukraine as a campaign issue.

Is this some joke? The whole Ukraine thing is Russia grabbed a patch where the voting confirmed the majority wanted to belong to Russia anyway, they got the futile media bashing for it that they didn't give a damn about already then but how is it relevant now? so basically "the Trump team" gave Russia nothing in return? All the things coming from the western media, like "deterring russia from further aggression" with a few funny rockets lol!  doh And what are the next probable targets of this "Russian belligerence" anyway? The last campaign had legitimacy and support from the locals. Russia won't invade countries just because they are powerful or because they feel like doing so  Rolling Eyes

Oooft! This is starting to get tasty - the standard Trump team bluster won't do in front of Senate.

Could be especially interesting if any of them end up doing a 'deal' down the line to save themselves but land the others in deeper

Aye - it's not going to be pretty, unless he can be stopped in his tracks.  However, even if that happens, how do you then put a lid on the Pandora's Box of lunacy he's unleashed?

One of the more eye opening things for me is just how utterly devoid of principles the Republican Party is...

Is it the whole Party, though, or just him and his pals?  I mean they surely can't all be orange tinted?  I should look things up more, but am apathetic due to being Trumped out.

6 days to go, come on. They're trying everything to ruin the celebrations but world peace is almost here.

It's mind boggling.  If Trump lived in a village - he'd be the idiot everyone laughed at.  Positions of wealth and power seem to elevate people in the most peculiar and worrying way.

Actually he'd probably be the bullying squire demanding jus prima noctes, stuffing the jury, and buying off the judges.

One of the things that the current focus on the Orange Herpes Sore is doing is allowing his atrocious cabinet picks to escape much scrutiny. This is troubling - Rex Tillerson for example seems completely unsuitable for the job of SoS.
