US Presidential Race 2008

For once in my life, I agree with Mark on this one.

Having a president who appears very understanding of Muslim culture could be one of the major things America needs to help stop Islamic extremism against the country. Good on Obama.

I hope he will be a good president who respects the Western culture, though I have a few doubts about the decisions he will have to make in the future. I'd say the same if it was a white man expressing another religion.

Perhaps it's not bad to be a bit intolerant towards religion, as it's getting too far at the moment. It cannot be that there was almost a law allowing people to wear Muslim outfits in class, in a Western country.

Whatever you think, anyone is better than another warmonger and I feel that is what McCain will certainly end up being.

We'll have to wait and see. Only way to tell.

Obama wore that outfit on a visit to some african nation did he not?

Dana, that's absolute ******** what you are saying. Obama is a guy in touch with people. He says he wants a United States of America, that's alll america, not a christian america or a white america or a black america. And I for one, believe he will try to unite the country and do a good job. I really hope he gets elected.

Also, the fact you use that single photo as basis for him being a muslim or having Islamic ties is ridiculous. Do you not watch the news? That photo was dug out of an archive by Hilary's people to cause embarassment to the Obama campaign, although they of course denied it. Can't believe you actually bought it in it's most extreme form. Very surprising from you. Shows narrow-mindedness I didn't really expect.

I really didn't expect that comment from Dana as well, she usually isn't so shallow.

Wasn't the whole problem with Obama due to his controversial Christian pastor?

McCain wastes no time in turning negative

The Democratic hopeful Barack Obama took his campaign to the Republican bastion of North Carolina yesterday, while his opponent, John McCain, launched the first attack ad of the presidential election.

Despite promises to stay on the higher ground, Mr McCain's commercial uses imagery to suggest that Mr Obama is a friend of America's enemies. It shows an apparently badly shaven Mr Obama looking across at the bearded face of the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

It is a far cry from the candidate's pledge in April for a campaign that is more akin to a discussion among friends than a bitter clash of ideological rivals.

"We have nothing to fear from each other," he said as he reached out to disaffected Democrats. "We are arguing over the means to better secure our freedom, promote the general welfare and defend our ideals." As soon as Mr McCain clinched the Republican nomination his office sent out a memo calling for "a respectful campaign focused on the issues and values that are important to the American people".

That honeymoon is now a distant memory and signalling that the gloves are about to come off for the final phase of the election, Mr Obama has himself hired an opposition research expert to dig dirt on Mr McCain.

Pathetic, he's clearly afraid.

That is not negative. Ha. Compared to what I've seen.

This is just true. Face the facts, Obama has NO experience in anything. Been a senator for one term. If he wins he will not know how to handle the nation.

He'll still know better than the man who is currently in office.

That's for sure! roflmao

I disagree for sure. Bush has had years of experience of fixing the US economy from when it was going down under Clintons last year, he has done many good things Bush has....people just judge him on the war and ignore everything else.

But Ive no time for a fight about it today.
