Well written. I wish more people would get behind Andy. I have long been a fan of his and think he ets a raw deal!

Sir Panda...I couldn't have said it better myself! It's nice to know that Andy has such loyal fans.  I am one...always have been...though I'm not in a position to follow him as I'd like to. What I mean by that is...I don't have Sky or VM TV or the financial status to watch him play in person (I hope to one day *smile*).  I was delighted when ITV4 broadcast the recent Tennis.

Like you, I admire him because he is who he is...no pretence at all...bless him.  I don't read the newspapers...any newspapers and haven't done for years, mainly because of the rubbish that comes out of them.

I've never heard him put down another player either...though they have not always been so generous towards Andy. I was so pleased when he won yesterday...I cried, not because no one has reached the semi-final since whatever year, but for Andy because he overcame whatever mental obstacle prevented him from reaching the final.  So proud of him I am.

When I joined this forum yesterday (though I'm sure I've joined before but lost the details) I received a welcome message from the moderator and replied (where the reply went I'm not sure lol...I thought I was posting on the boards) anyway, I'll try again, I wrote the following which pretty much sums up where I am coming from.

Our Andy

Come on our Andy, you’re simply the best
I know it, they know it; it’s all been a test
There’s Lendl by your side, Mum, girlfriend too
Along with me and the nation, all behind you
First do it for self, prove Ivan right
You have the power, he has the insight
A formidable team, of that I’ve no doubt
To silence the critics when you knock them all out!
Forget about pressure, focus on will
Believe you can do it, you sure have the skill
I’ve watched with amusement, the three players who
Knew their greatest obstacle would always be you!
They recognise your potential, playing with your mind
Knowing in their hearts you are one of a kind
I wrote many moon’s ago (I’ve not forgot)
My predictions always true, you’ll be there at the top
Now it’s time, yes your time, believe and you’ll see
No pressure our Andy this is meant to be!

Never posted here before, so hope no one minds, but just had to say bravo! I agree with every word about Andy, and share your views on Federer.

I think Andy is quite shy, he is certainly distrustful of the media, but having his fingers so badly burned by the ratbags so early on caused that. He is focused and a pro all the way to his fingertips, not to mention immensely talented. You don't get 22 titles and to four in the world by sitting on your rear end all day. Andy has worked and worked and it shows.

Watched him on TV when he played Queen's in 2005 and knew he was going to be great. How right was I!

'Some citizens of this country, who take the opinion of tabloid newspapers and who are unable to form their own, have since found it difficult to like Murray. As a naive teenager, Murray tried to be funny with the media and got his fingers burnt. I can see exactly why Murray doesn't give them anything exciting to talk about. Again, I would be the exact same'

Please help me understand what you're saying here because I must be mistaken. It reads to me that Murray made a highly racist comment but its okay because he was young, or worse yet, joking?
I am a fan of Murray and we all make mistakes, but do not try and defend the indefensible. In addition please do not label those who hold the view racism and discrimination is wrong as 'unable to form their own' opinions. Should the Sun state the world is round should we choose to abandon such a view because it has come from a tabloid? Simply no.
There is no place for racism nor discrimination in modern society, and those who try to justify them are equally as guilty, if not worse, as those who made the initial comments. In short Racism in not 'funny' and should not be treated as such.

Such a shoddy and misplaced paragraph has sullied this column. That and what seems a completely unjustified and unsupported attack on Federer. Has Federer openly criticized his opponents? Has he not been humble in victory? Has he too not shed a tear at victory?
In fact, upon reflection of this column perhaps you are rather 'arrogant and far from genuine' yourself...

SE, in regards to the "racist comment"... please read this article so you can learn about what actually happened.

It's hard to believe you are a fan of Murray and yet not know the truth about the football comment.
