I agree -some of us are not natural on screen performers.  I believe Andy has worked extremely hard.can relax a little & go for Gold!!  He has the talent just needed that extra self confidence & finally the public in the U.K are contributing towards his goal. Best of British hope to see u in the Wimbledon final & winner next year!!!

I agree Andy you have the talent & ability not only to win Gold but GS. It only needed the confidence to be unleashed. Not everyone is a natural born media darling. You have worked hard & deserve the rewards.  I have supported you for many years & I would love to be at your next G.S & many to come. H

Very low key reporting of Andy's matches on BBC though this is good as it takes the media pressure off Andy.    I did see his interview after yesterday's match when
he said he was pleased to win because he wanted a medal for the team, for the country, and lastly for himself.     That is the mark of a true sportsman - an individual star - but put him in a team and he'll put the team first.

The postman has developed a severe hernia delivering all of my fanmail.

In all seriousness, thank you for the kind words. I was inebriated when I wrote this, I'm pretty certain.

Hi Andrew, the truth, they say, comes out in a drink and your article is one of the top articles I have ever read about Andy and I have been following him since he was 17.  Well done to you and please feel free to have a drink on me and I expect another fine article from you when Andy wins his first GS. cheers

Andrew, I have only just found this thread and thank you for this absolutely super article. It is exactly how I too feel about Andy in a sort of 'grandmotherly' kind of way. Since his emotion at Wimbledon, seen by far more people than those who saw his tears at Davis Cup, and then his almost shy attitude in the Gold Medal ceremony, his popularity has grown and I do hope that in future people will know that underneath the 'dour' exterior is a thoroughly decent young man dedicated to his sport. Another important weekend looms for him should he beat Cilic, let's hope his excellent form continues and he realises the goal he has been aiming for all his career. hug
