I think Bodo is making a valid point and if Andy has a PR team they should be making absolutely sure he doesn't get involved in this debate any further. Whether he is right or wrong in his views the vast majority of UK will see it as whingeing from a multi millionaire at a tough time for them.
People keep complaining that the press are targeting Andy on this issue but from what I've seen, Andy has been the most vocal about it recently. If I was his PR team, I'd be telling him to let the others take the lead but support them where necessary. Don't be a spokesman for the rich wanting better working conditions when most ordinary people are struggling to keep their family fed.

However I do feel the grievances raised at the US Open were genuine and the player were right to complain about it.

Mark and Littlebuddha are right.
Andy should choose his words carefully on such subjects. I like to stand up for what I believe, but in Andys case he would do well to try to "win some friends in the media" this MAY take some of the negative pressure off him, if he's more respected by the media as a sportman. They are too focused on his effing and jeffing and body language to appreciate his wonderful talent, at present.

Why should Smugfed be vocal, he's not going to be playing for much longer, is he ??? Planning retirement I should think!

I think Andy has the right to speak on certain working conditions in particular programming tournaments and their obligation to participate.Is he right or wrong? that is not the problem: the freedom of speech even for athletes high  level has to exist.  After, Andy  has to take the consequences of its actions. I believe him strong enough and pugnacious to do it! As for the English media I find little grateful for everything he brings to this country. Yellow card for them

The thing is LB, that it's not a good thing to keep harping on about the English all the time when there is clearly so much support from the English fans, many of whom happen to be our friends on MW! You can't tar everyone with the same brush, and that includes journalists too!

Yes Joe I can but why are you so sensitive about it. Like it or not its true and I do not mention the English in every post I make. You are the one who wants to make a big issue of it. Do you think you are St George saving the English from us barbaric Scots come of it you should be able to take criticism.  I have to on this forum for expressing my views.
