No, it doesn't. "Doing better" is something that can be objectively measured: is the NHS reaching targets, is poverty dropping, is the education system improving, whatever.

Re the NHS reaching targets ... A situation exists at the surgery I attend where they operate same day appointments.  If you want to see the GP you are registered with you  can expect a four week wait.  I recently spent 4 1/2 months getting bounced from one lo um to another and ended up going privately to resolve my problem.  So, doesn't feel like the NHS is operating too smoothly inmy neck of the woods.

It is a different place to live in but I didn't say everyone was happy.   That's not possible.    But the majority feel more positive about their participation in politics.

I did not suggest that you had stated everyone was happy .
However I am in the fortunate position of being able to leave which would be a pity as I like Scotland.  But there have been times where I have felt intimidated by some of the nats.  I also  believe that Sturgeon will have to watch her step between now and the election ... After that, if she succeeds, I would imagine all bets are off.

Try this one.    SNP are the government of Scotland and, by and large, people think they are better off with them than with Westminster of whatever colour.    You can't know this but this feels a different place now.   I would say things can only get better but last time that was said, they didn't.

You are correct ... It does feel a different place and I am not alone in saying it makes me feel very uneasy.

... and now Sturgeon says a UK vote to leave the EU could pave the way for a second referendum on Scottish independence. What will she come up with next !

Meanwhile the Conservative Government is capping social welfare payments and imposing benefits sanctions which are creating problems for thousands of families in genuine hardship and putting further strain on social cohesion.  Do you wonder that there's resentment? Scotland may not be socialist by your standards, but there is a long heritage of liberal values and caring conservatism that is entirely lacking in the mainstream UK Tory party which is without doubt the party of money and privilege, cloaked in provincial populism.

"As long as you follow the rules of the  benefit you're getting, you should carry on receiving your payments.  But if you don't do something you've agreed to do, such as applying for a job or going to an interview, they may be temporarily stopped or reduced.  This is known as a Sanction."

There is a pattern -

Nationalist makes wild or exaggerated claim
Gets challenged on the point
Evades evidence
When evidence reaches undeniable levels, nationalist abuses challenger or questions their motives

Precisely ... just like the Magic Roundabout !

I feel politically threatened when a the single Westminster representative of a party only 10% of the electorate voted for has a power of veto over the economic policy making of my country's Parliament.

Looks like we're both stuck then !

I agree, Boogers, it is an extremely well written and balanced piece - thank you for posting it.  For the first time in my life, and I am most certainly not in the first flush of youth, I feel politically threatened in the country I love because I am a unionist and not an SNP supporter.  It is not a position that I feel comfortable with.  Although 50% of the Scottish electorate voted for the SNP at the General election, 50% did not and, I am sure, many feel as I do that they have little or no representation at Westminster.  What is more sinister is the response from many, although I accept not all, SNP supporters that any criticism of the party, its policies or individuals is not only unpatriotic but treacherous in some way.  I am and have always been a patriot and I hope to live long enough to see Scotland returned to political tolerance and reasoned debate once more - I sincerely hope it is.  Interestingly, Aileen, in case you wonder, I believe I am considered to be a 'grown up' by those than know me.

"politically threatened" ... nail on the head !

Daisy I am doing my best to keep away from you. From previous experience you have been looking for touble. I decied then only to communicate when absolutely neccessary. So do continue to do what you want. I will read your comments and reply with NO COMMENT. If you remember you were told about
trolling. I dont know you and do not want to know you.

No one is forcing you to reply to any post from any one member.  Just ignore the posts that irritate you.

As for trolling - there is no bigger troll than yourself and I believe you have been told this within the past 24 hours.  And that remark is the type of remark that is extremely aggressive and uncalled for.

My opinion is that, at the end of the day, Andy Murray looking slick and groomed, with nice short hair, just wouldn't be him, would it? He's just not like that, so he should do whatever makes him comfortable.

yes

Murraymaniac: For your information I posted on the same thread as Aileen. Between you and Daisy who
by the way is extremely rude how could I fail to please her. She is a terrible person and just wants to make trouble. I have nothing further to say on the subject.

LB ... if you are going to be rude to other members, there's no doubt they will be rude back again.  You have been the aggressor and instigator in our exchanges as can be seen from above.

I, for one, am happy to let bygones be bygones and go on from here, but if you attack me again, I'm sure my response will not be so friendly.
