Kim being there seemed to help him- you know, get motivated. Be more relaxed. No sensible (or true fan) would begrudge him a girlfriend who has that effect on his tennis at all! And i reckon all of us on here is sensible enough to understand that.

While I agree with you on this I think you misunderstood a little bit of playful banter. Trying to be subtly funny obviously doesn't work then.

Yeah, I tried to put it down to that, also respect for Hewitt and exhaustion. He was the same in Aberdeen though.

However I did keep shouting at him to smile last night. He just seemed to have such a sulky face on when he was recieving the trophey.

I wonder if he wasn't so much keeping it a secret as just not mentioning it. I mean, like I've said befor it was pretty clear in Aberdeen. And if he was keeping it secret why is this week any different. I think it's fantastic. She certainly seems to have a good effect on his game. Even though I'm sure the residents of Shalloville are probably wallowing in despair... Hopefully his vicory'll help heal the wounds girls!

I really don't think he does. We were talking about this on another thread and he said it doesn't actually MEAN anything. He really just wants his tennis to improve more than anything and if that means being British Number one then that's what it means, if not then fair enough. In fact, if you consider his comments about the press and the pressure I'd be willing to bet he actuallt doesn't want to be British number one quite yet.
