General Community / Andy Talk / Murray vs Ljubicic ** [Official Topic] **

Pretty much. It must have been so frustrating for Andy. Especially in the second set. He took ivan to deuce on two seperate occasions and had bresk points in both but everytime he go to one of the big points Ivan came up with a serve like that. You could see Andy just looking at it thinking 'I had no chance returning that.' Ivan just came up with the big shots when he needed them.

The reason Hawk Eye hasn't been used so far is that it is not quite perfect, although it is more accurate than the human eye. So I'm sure it won't eliminate the arguments. The players'll still have a good rant i'd think.
Plus, am I right in saying that since hawk eye takes a short time to generate images it'll only be used on the close points? Umpires'll be able to use it to overule calls. So we may now have players demanding to see the Hawk Eye images. Oh fun and games.

General Community / Tennis Talk / Hingis vs Sharapova

Too right! I was surfing some of the news channels teletext easlier this week looking for some results as I couldn't get to a computer and one of the channels under 'sports news' had nothing but Football. I mean I can understand the whole 'football is the most popular sport' arguement when it comes to the reporting in newspapers and such but at least they do report on the big stories in other sports and there's usually some tennis news most days, but to claim that the only news there is in sport is football is rubbish! And I agree about the tennis channel, why not if there's a Man u and a Chelsea Channel! There's live tennis on all the time around the world. Maybe we'd get some challangers coverage. Ooh, and doubles and juniors! And repeats of classic matches too. We can but dream...

I don't think it is. Only UK coverage this week is of Zagreb (understandable due to the fact Tim and Andy were both entered to play) on Eurosport 2. Winter Olympics and Africa cup are sort of dominating the sports channels at the moment.

General Community / Tennis Talk / Martina Hingis?

now that'd be cool! I'm sure you'd find the best ones to show. I wonder if the remit of the photo scout is to find 'action' shots or something. That would possibly explain the awful selection. I mean there are plenty of good shots out there. Ever noticed the shots of Tim are usually fine though?

General Community / Tennis Talk / Hingis vs Sharapova

I think that Hingis has a good chance. She's well knowledgeable of Sharapova's game as she's been watching her rise to the top of her game over the last few years. Sharapova hasn't had a great deal of experience against a player such as Hingis who uses her opponents power against her and has an unrivled knowledge of the game. She has amazing skill in reading another player. If Sharapova doesn't pounce on her and strangle any opportunity Hingis has to outsmart her she'll be in big trouble. Plus, Sharapova hasn't been known for her consistancy of late. It'll be a close and interesting game but I think Hingis may come out on top.

Well it's a match everyone's been waiting for ever since Hingis announced her return to professional tennis. Even the players themselves admit to have been anticipating it. But in this battle between the old and the new who do you think will come out on top?
