General Community / Tennis Talk / Kim Clijsters beat Hingis

According to the article from the times (either the sharapova one linked from the sharapova thread) or the one you can jump to straight from it (the ova rated ove paid one) Mauresmo is everyone's best friend on the tour and no one likes Hingis. Just an interesting point.

she had a good run. Nice to see she's still got it. Be nice to see her take another few slam titles second time round too. Although I'm rooting for Kim for this tournament. She deserves it.

I'm in two minds about federer. I appreciate how amazing a player he is and how brilliant he is to watch, but the thing I maybe admired most about him was his humility and the fact that, even when he seemed unbeatable last year he always gave the players he was up against the respect of going out and playing. And he once said 'I never go into a match assuming i'll win'. But having said that there's always been something I just don't like about him, something about the way he holds himself on the court. And he'll need to be really careful with comments like yesterdays cause if he develops an arrogance like that he could start to see some of the new guys creep up on him while he's still out there thinking he can't lose. Remember Rodger, the guy who had you panicing yesterday was the same guy who beat you already this year!

Looks like that was quite a game. I think Hingis's return will definately do much to excite an already quite interesting WTA tour.

General Community / Andy Talk / Murray vs Chela ** [Official Topic] **

The easiest way for you to do it would be to make a data CD of all the songs on the itunes on your brothers laptop. There's also a way for you to upload the songs you have stored on there onto your computer but i'd have to be doing it to remember how. To manually update you double click on the little ipod icon that comes up in your playlists when your ipod is plugged in and press options and then select how you want to update it. But I think this'd probably still just wipe the pod too.

That's certainly what i thought. People just get carried away with the hype and don't actually look for the facts around the situation. I mean, I'm willing to bet hardly any of those people had even seen the match or actually listened to the press conference. it's no wonder our media is such a driving force of public opinion if people just swallow what they've been told like that.

General Community / Tennis Talk / Hewitt loses to Chela

I saw most of it and chela really took advantage of the fact that hewitt was below par. absolutely played him off the court. i got the impression that even if Hewitt had been 100% he may still have had trouble seeing him off. If Chela plays this well the whole tournament he could trouble most players in the draw. problem with his career is that he's not exactly consistant though.

There's actually a really good article on this whole situation in the guardian. It seems the guy who's written it seems to be the only one at the whole press conference who's got the RIGHT end of the stick. If you have a listen to it on the BBC website he just seems angry, upset and frustrated at himself and he's taken it out on a group of interfearing guys asking him stupid questions. Check it out at: http://sport.guardian.co.uk/tennis/story/0,,1688632,00.htmlHowever I do love the article at the beginning of this thread, I think it's funny and trying to take the mick out of something that the author probably knew the British press would pounce on. It should help Everyone to laugh at the wholle think and just look to the next tournament... without expectation of course.

I must admit, I do like the short haired look too, but I'm yet to be convinced that he should ditch the long hair just yet. It could end up looking really good.

I haven't read all of this topic cause it's pretty long but I just wanted to give a quick observation about Andy's hair. I must admit I wasn't a fan of the afro look, bit too crazy for my liking and he did get a lot of stick for it but now that it's getting longer and considerably less curly i think it looks really good. It definately makes him look older and tougher.
