1  General Community / Tennis Talk / Tickets for WTF on: September 27, 2016, 11:24 pm
Hi all

I have not posted in the forum for quite some time so I hope you all don't mind me starting a new thread and hope I'm posting in the right place.

Im considering heading down to London for the WTF and I would really like to see Andy. Thinking of heading down on the Friday for the final group matches / SF / Final and catch a match.

From anyone who has previous experience, how easy is it to get last minute tickets for a particular session?

I have been once before in 2010 - it was a 50/50 between the Nadal v Murray SF or Federer v Djokovic. The former was an epic and in the afternoon as you'll recall, the latter a formality and over in 90 minutes. Guess who had tickets for the wrong match!!

Are you really as unpleasant as you appear from your posts?     I do not know which odious racist rabble rousing toad you are referring to, but rabble rousing could well apply to you.   As for the other adjectives and the noun, I don't know you well enough to know if they also are applicable but I would consider the possibility.
While I respect everyone's entitlement to an opinion, in my small amount of involvement in the forum I always remember boogers as the persistently negative poster. I recall him saying on a regular basis that Andy would never win a slam. Hence I wouldn't take what he says too seriously.

I think it's incredibly unlikely that there'll be another officially recognised referendum vote in the next two or three decades.

The militant Yes camp needs to realise that a) they lost by some considerable margin b) the sort of changes we are talking about take time to implement and aren't as simply as some odious racist rabble rousing toad proclaiming "and it shall be so!" c) the No voters saved them from a pretty terrible fate
You don't understand, the promise made to Scots was that the powers were non negotiable, they were effectively federalist, and that they would be delivered immediately following the next General election. That won't happen, and the Scots will be sure to let whatever party which is in charge know that they are disappointed.

It's very difficult to imagine Labour being able to compete with the SNP. SNP's membership has now risen to 35000 from 25000 on Thursday. Labour membership figures estimate 13-15000, although apparently Labour members are exiting for the SNP in their droves. Could be that Labour ae going to be totally whitewashed by the SNP at the next Scottish election if the pledge is not kept....they made a big tactical error by siding with the Conservatives IMHO.

Let's Do This is the YES slogan for the referendum. Therefore I take that as Andy backing a YES vote Smile

Any news on whether Andy will be wearing Adidas kit for 2015 and after, or if he is moving to another supplier?

His contract with Adidas was a 5 year deal beginning January 2010...due to expire at the end of this season
7  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Murray's Ranking on: March 01, 2014, 03:47 pm
I would say it's absolutely absurd that Andy seems to be getting penalised in the 500s category by being given 0 pointers. Fair enough as a deterrent for players who withdraw at the last minute etc, but the guy was having back surgery, is that not reason enough for being unable to play events like Basel?!

Can someone please confirm for me what ranking Murray will be ranked on Monday? Ferrer out of Indian Wells so his seeding will move up one.

It's noticeable how the coverage of the flooding has now switched from primarily being Somerset to the Thames Valley areas. Maybe I shouldn't be making a political point out of something like this, but it's a prime example of how much more important London and the surrounding areas are to Westminster than anywhere else.

This is one of the main reasons I think Scotland should be independent.

Strange if it isn't on TV....6 top 9 players in the draw after all.
11  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Will Andy be BBC Sports Personality this Year? on: November 26, 2013, 11:44 am
He means for every Scots vote, there are 10 English votes in terms of proportion of population. So to try and offset that, he feels the need to vote several times, just in case.
12  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Murray's Ranking on: September 08, 2013, 10:42 pm
What I've heard suggested numerous times was that Nadal's break was due to mental burnout. This makes sense when you look at how things in the year prior to his match against Rosol panned out (regular losses to Djokovic etc).

Now can we get off talking about Nadal and back on to what this thread is supposed to be about, Andy's ranking. Not who's a cheat and who's irritating.
13  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Murray's Ranking on: September 05, 2013, 08:40 am
Even if Andy dropped to No. 4 I'm sure he would regain it quite quickly before year end. He's about 800 points ahead of Ferrer in 2013 points (before match v Wawrinka). If he beats Wawrinka, that will be 1150 approx.

Andy should be targeting No.2 post US Open. No.1 is only in reach if he goes on a massive unbeaten stretch, and Rafa gains hardly any points.
14  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Can Andy ever win a career Golden Grand Slam? on: September 04, 2013, 04:21 pm
To be honest I've heard a lot of people say he has the perfect game for clay, but no one ever seems to qualify that with any sort of explanation as to why.

His game is perfect for clay, he has all the shots required to play on clay and has the ability to play patiently from the baseline and grind it out.

What isn't perfect for clay is his movement. He isn't able to slide properly and get back in position as quickly as Nadal and Djokovic so he often ends up on the back foot. If he ever learns to move the clay way, he'll be a real threat.
