Just realised in this that I actually spelt Wawrinka's name wrong in this topic! Yeah I'm observant and a bad typer Smile

Murray to win but Ferrero might take a set.
I don't think Murray will be tired mentally or physically, he's got much sronger and more used to these types of matches over the past year or so.
He will have to up his 1st serve though, last night it was only an average of 55% throughout the match and despite winning he only hit 49 winners to 59 for Wawrinka

11.8 million people tuned in to watch Murray play on BBC 1 last night  w00t Impressive!

Thanks for the write up...I gave up trying to comment last night, which says something about our response to the match!

I was annoyed at the BBC with the interview, its unfair to single his matches out like that for oncourt interviews, especially since that has only ever happened on finals! He was shattered and they made him talk THEN??

It was as bad as watching Henman play again- years are off my life and I'm sure I woke my neighbours shouting Smile
Think I'm going to avoid reading the papers on the match -he'll either be a god or awful because it was so tight - forgetting that Wawrinka's a brilliant player and holds an Olympic gold, all be it in doubles.

-Someone asked if the roof needed to be on for the floodlights - yes seems to be the implication, as they said the roof might be put on for matches that might last well into the evening.

Well now there's Ferrero - looking forward to it as he is a great player and I'm glad he's got this far...though hoping he doesn't go further!

And there she is! The lady in the Jester hat who has been at almost every Wimbledon I can remember since Henman came on the scene...how she still has hope is beyond me

Watch WaWa hold to love right here.

Bloody hell, that's it. I'm resigned to him becoming another British "almost man" sportsman.

Seems to be our lot in life...

I really would have like the double break there!

And yeah so impressed with the lighting under the roof

Okay he might win this match - I say might coz my innate pessimism that comes from being British is in working order! But I don't think he will make it through the next round if he plays another match like this!
I know Ferrero got in on a wildcard but lets just remember the year Goran won!

HazelMP - is your name really Hazel and are you an MP?? Think Do you ride a motorbike? Shortish? Ginger hair? It's beginning to sound familiar... Have you had a sudden change of jobs recently following a misunderstanding regarding an expenses claim? Wink

Thankfully not! And totally getting that nerves thing! It's taking years off  my life! Smile

|Hm not the dream start but if he's going to lose a set I'd rather 1 of the first 2. Murray's a tough player and fights for every point (well match) and hopefully if he has a dire 1st set then he'll buck up his idea and play wekk the rest of it.

I'm thinking Murray will come through, what with more experience on Centre and the way he's been playing. But Wawrinka's only dropped 1 set so far and that was 5-7, so he is playing well. I'd say 4 sets

I'd say Murray in 3, 6-4 6-3 6-2
-have to say that I love having a flexible timetable at the moment which means I can plan on watching his matches!
