Just seen that Andy is partnering Laura in the dubs - just one pair for each country. Now I did think they'd give it to Jamie but I guess his performance on Saturday meant it didn't make sense to if they want a medal and Andy and Laura have played together in Hopman Cup and well at that - and Laura is a much better player now than she was then. So who knows. Just hope it doesn't put too much pressure on Andy as he goes for a medal in the singles.
I believe if Andy was still in the doubles he wouldn't have played, but as he lost early he was free to play without it compromising his medal chances in singles.
So a team that have only ever played together at one (?) other tournament have the chance to win an Olympic gold medal against only 15 opponents. I'm not sure about that one.
There are many arguments against tennis being an Olympic sport but MD tennis definitely doesn't feel like an Olympic sport.
One of the real arguments for Tennis in the Olympics is that it's the biggest sport with gender equality. With the mixed event, it'll also be one of the few sports in the Olympics where men/women compete side by side.
