Thanks for the interview Apollo.  Very strange they don't have AC there but Andy has played there before so would have known what to expect.  At least he's got a day in which to recover before his next match.
13  General Community / Andy Talk / Zhuhai R2: Andy Murray vs Aslan Karatsev on: Yesterday at 03:05 pm
30 year old Karatsev is currently ranked No. 63.  Highest No. 14 on 7 February 2022.  The two have met before, in the final of the 2022 Sydney Tennis Classic with Karatsev winning 6-3, 6-3 to lift his 3rd ATP Tour title.  He hasn't achieved anything of significance since then apart from reaching the semi-finals of this year's Madrid Open defeating Alex de Minaur and Daniil Medvedev en route before losing to Jan-Lennard Struff, then reaching the quarter-finals of the French Open where he lost to Frances Tiafoe in four sets.  In his first match here he defeated World No. 48 Matteo Arnaldi 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 6-2.

According to Andy - “It was very hard.  We came from playing indoors back home where it was quite cold and here it’s very difficult.  The humidity makes it very hard to get air in after the long points. I found it tough.  It was a very fast court.  He [Mo] played a solid level and pushed me while I was trying to adjust to the conditions.  Once I managed to get ahead in the second set, I felt a little bit more comfortable."

Addressing the crowd, he added: “It’s been a long time since I’ve been back here. Look I’ve always enjoyed playing in China, I’ve had some of my best results here, played some of my best tennis.”

And at the 2023 Guangzhou Open, Danish player Clara Tauson collapsed mid-match due to the heat and had to retire.

Still wants to be the first woman to win Wimbledon since Virginia Wade in 1977.  Well good luck to her on that because I doubt many coaches will want to work with her now.
