General Community / Andy Talk / Re: AO F - Murray vs Federer

I believe that Andy will win AO in 5 sets
Andy will be a multi GS champ but if he wins the AO this year he will not win Wimbledon in 2010 the pressure will be massive and Federer will be furious and pull out all the stops.
Have managed to arrange for my 9 year old daughter to go to a sleep over tonight so I can watch the final in peace tommorrow as long as it takes less than 4 hours as shes due back at 1pm on sunday hubby will hide upstairs on the computer.

I don't think he's really getting the idea of being rich and famous really...... He bought it second hand?? Wtf....
The rich tend to stay that way by being frugal. (some but not all I should add) Just because you've got it doesn't mean you have to spend it all. I think hes sensible.

A ranking list of most influential UK people on Twitter shows Andy at No 11 above even the likes of Sarah Brown the PMs wife who is notorious for a big following Is this a symptom of Andys problem is he to involved in twitter et al and not focused enough on his tennis Top 20 UK Twitterati

Chery proved that while she does't have the best voice on the planet she can sing and perform live although the chorus was obviously a backing track.
Have to say whitney seemed out of it nearly as stoned as Robbie last week. At least she managed to stay in her dress. Was really funny when she was trying not to insult the constestents who she was clearly not impressed with.

General Community / Andy Talk / Andy will not get back to No 2 untill he does better at GS level

Its is Interesting to note the breakdown of Where the top 5 get their wins the result shows that Perhaps Andy has got it wrong. I was before this exercise one who thought that doing well in any tournament would be good enough the figures speak for themselves Nadal’s Figures are misleading and in previous years his GS percentage was nearer the 50% Note Figure may not add up to 100% as rounded up
Note Headings are Tournaments Played then Left to Right % points earned at GS then 1000 Series then Other Levels
I cannot get my table to paste properly sorry
Federer 18 56.86 35.98 7.14 Nadal 17 32.79 56.76 10.45 Murray 19 17.16 56.73 26.81 Djokovic 21 20.87 45.65 25.65 Del Potro 22 47.67 31.88 20.44
Conclusion Andy has consistently been the highest achiever points wise in the other Category 3rd Tier Tournaments and that is Great, he also has this year been 2nd highest points scorer in the 1000 series but he will not become a long term Top 2 or even World No 1 until he starts winning a lot more points at Grand slam.

I don't think it will damage his credibility at least he has not signed up with Nike.
As long as his career doe not follow the same direction as the other British Adidas Wearer Tim Henman.
Tim had a great career and I was a big fan but Andy is Capaple of so much more

General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Will Murray win a slam in 2010?

Why no option to select win 1 slam
he could win Aussie or Wimbly or even US Open Just because he went out early in the this year doesn't mean he can't do well again At the US.
Sampras won the us in 1990 Went out in the Quarters 91 Reached the Finals in 92 "had a wake up call" (His Words) then from about the age of 22 1993 onwards went on to win pretty much everything for several years Including 12 Grand Slams.
Perhaps this can be Andys wake up call.

I have to admit that I have been a bit horrified at the attitudes of all the people on the site the last few days. I agree that it was bad that Andy lost at the US Open I also believe that it was a bit inevitable.
He has had an amazing year he has been consistent all year going further in the other 3 Grand Slams than previous years. I believe that his US open Final last year was an early peak.
Year on year Andy has steadily improved his rankings and tournament results. Players that have long careers tend to slowly improve and hone their Art there will be inevitable falls on the way.
Andy is not past it or running out of time. He is still only 22 he has plenty of years left in him. We should be proud of what he has achieved so far he can and will win a grand slam when his skills and his mind are ready.
What would you prefer a long career or for him to Burn out like Nadal is Inevitably Going to he is a Amazing Player whose body is a bit of a freak of nature. I do not think that he will last many more years sadly as I am a fan.
The best players with multi slams won most of them after the age of 22 ie#
Federer :- 13 Grand Slamsafter his 22nd birthday Agassi:- 6 Grand Slams after his 22nd Birthday the last at the ripe old age of 32 Pete Sampras:- 12 Grand Slams after his 22nd Birthday McEnroe 8 Grand Slams after his 22nd Birthday (3 Singles 5 Doubles)
There are many players who peaked early and did not go on the fulfill their potential ie
Andy Roddick Won US open aged 21 has Won noSlams since Lleyton Hewitt won the US open aged 20 and Wimbledon the following year aged 21 nothing since.

we shouldn't all write Andy off to quickly he came back from 2 sets down against Melzer last year at the US Open and against Gasquet at Wimbly. It is a big ask but he can do it have faith
