It was a shame Andy lost but it may be for the best it will force him to up his game when he next plays federer, better here than the US final at least Fed is finally acknowledging Andy is a worthy opponent.

"He's a wonderful player, and he's had an incredible streak on hardcourts," Federer said of Murray. "He's just been very consistent, and it takes a great performance to beat him these days. That's what I was able to do today. I know it could be different, but right now obviously it helps my confidence. But I have to focus on what's to come, and this is the final tomorrow. The tournament is not won yet, even though I beat the second best player in the world right now. We'll see how it goes."

"I have confidence to get into the top 100, that's where I deserve to be..."

Er, well, the rankings don't lie Boggo! retard

I agree Joe he is currently 191 when the 120 points for Granby come off 13th July he will be down around no 260  with only 248 points.   He will then be no 5 ranked British player.

At the moment you need around 720 points min to be in the top 100.  Alex is going to have to have the year of his life and win nearly every challenger he enters for the rest of the year to get there.

He needs to get in the real world he also needs to stop getting wildcards into Wimbledon he does not deserve them.

I would rather Murray Win Wimbledon this year beating Nadal and Fed on the way than be No 1 for a week or two because Nadal got knocked out early or some other combi that Neil mentioned.  If he wins at Wimbledon and doesn't play Nadal and Federer on the way there will always be a few idiots that say he didn't deserve it.

Andy will be no 1 and soon but more important at the moment is to focus on Wimbledon the no 1 ranking will come naturally at the right time.

Andys points aren't as bad as they look assuming that he and RF both win their respective tournaments this week. (a usefull 250 points to add on once indianopolis's 0 drops off on 20th July) if Andy can win Wimbledon even if RF reaches the Final Andy will be 60 points ahead of of RF and in Second place.

A big ask I know but 2nd place is still not impossible but if Andy is at his best at Wimbledon he can end up in 2nd.  A BIG thank you to Yamors chart to cheering me up once this was worked out.

I just hope that Rafas injury does not knock him out to long as if the above scenario was to playout and he didn't play wimbledon or was knocked out early say by SF then by the end of July he could be down in 3rd place

How much do you think the bookies have lost?
Diversity where 20 - 1 so some people will have made a killing

The right group won kind of glad Susan didn't win it will take a lot of pressure off her she was very gracious in defeat.

Holly should never have gone through if that had been an adult they wouldn't have been allowed a second chance.

The worse case of fake spoilt child crying I have heard there were not even any tears.  A victim of nerves and her pushy mum.  I feel sorry for kids who are pushed into things they are not ready for.

The day my daughter said she didn't want to dance anymore we instantly stopped taking her. I have friends who force their daughters to continue dance lessons because its for their own good and they will appreciate it when they are older absolute tosh.   Clambers down off soap box!

It is an interesting idea but I do think that he is bitter that he has dropped in the rankings to Andy.  I also think that if it was a 2 year ranking system the smaller tournaments would really suffer it would also really only benefit the top players.

"I try not to pay too much attention to the rankings, but to be realistic, playing three Masters Series finals in a row and winning a 250 event (Belgrade) is incredible success " from Djoko sounds like sour grapes to me
27  General Community / Tennis Talk / Re: Gasquet 'tests positive' for cocaine on: May 12, 2009, 12:34 pm
If we take the view of not encouraging kids to follow the wrong role model then I would say that they both merit the same strong penalty.  However if Gasquet did not intentionally take cocaine then I think the penalty should be more lenient (maybe 3 to 6 months) - long enough to prevent others from being so careless and not too long as to kill someone's career.

How can you not intentionally take cocaine fall asleep with your head on a table and accidentally breath in the line of coke left there as you sit up again.

Sorry there is no excuse for any drug taking recreational or performance enhancing as a sportsman your body should be a temple.  Richard gasquet has earned $4 million from tournaments alone who knows what from sponsersip deals.  He has fans all round the world he should be setting a example.  I hope that he gets the maximum punishment that can be given out.

No, that's only some of it. I think we can be fairly certain the photos on the left don't represent what they look like if you saw them in person. Yes you would see them in make-up but what girl doesn't wear make-up.

Err I Don't and never have.  Women who have always worn a lot of makeup especially for TV or performing tend to look very washed out and pale without it.  Hence the pictures above.  ITs a fact heavy makeup does ruin skin in the long term many famous women would be unrecognisable without there 'face' on
