i was referring to the celtic peoples i.e. the welsh, the scots and the irish and the cornish too of course - traditionally the areas where the anglo-saxon invaders didnt become quite as established and where the old 'british' peoples remained. of course in later years the english did manage to conquer us and therefore we all stick together - traditional rivalry!!
David Lloyd, a former Great Britain Davis Cup captain, emerged yesterday as a potential bidder for Queen's Club. The Lawn Tennis Association are selling the west London club, which stages the grass-court Stella Artois tournament every June. It is understood that the bidders could include Next Generation Clubs, a health chain founded by Lloyd and his son, Scott, following the sale of the David Lloyd Leisure business.
that looks like a great idea!! Fingers crossed it gets proper funding and all the named players agree to compete - it would be a great experience for the younger players too and i imagine with the hype around murray at the moment it would attract pretty good audiences 8) It has to be said you can't go wrong with a bit of scottish/english rivalry - and as a welsh girl (and murray fan) i would of course be supporting the scots!!
in so far as the money raised will go to fund british tennis and the future of the stella artois champs. and any other tennis events that may crop up in the future will be secure it seems like a good move - but i don't think we can be 100% certain of anything until we know who buys it!
I'm going to be extremely ignorant here and ask if someone could explain to me the difference between race and entry rankings - how they're worked out etc.
