The danger is, people get used to them being automated and they switch off, and don't take over when they need to. Or even fall asleep! Accidents caused by stupidity would certainly fall, but the car wouldn't be able to avoid someone else piling into it, or pulling out in front of it at lights or what not. It's an awesome concept, but I feel it would have to be applied to every vehicle so that they all "knew" where each other was without sensors for other non-automated vehicles. Time will tell though Smile

This is what drives me nuts about the money the Government collects - as far as I know all tax money goes into some huge melting pot, never to be seen again.  Think how much they must get on VAT alone ... I did Google it, but think I must be asking the wrong question as I can't get any kind of satsifactory answer.

Me neither. I could research it but I can't be arsed lol

Does anyone know what exactly the PAYE income is used for and how much it approximately totals per annum?

Just goes into the "tax pot" I would have thought? As for totals I have no idea, but google could probably tell you.

And also, as much as I find myself agreeing with Nigel, we are kind of arguing a mute point. I mean, it's stopping child benefit for higher earners, an excellent decision, not stopping it for everyone.

And I too detest those people who have large broods. Fine if you can afford it. Not fine if you are just living off the state. Sick sick people abusing the system.

PAYE has nothing to do with having children.

Thank you for making my point for me. So why are you arguing that people who DON'T have children, should pay for those who do?
9  General Community / Chit Chat / Re: Benefits and financial support on: October 07, 2010, 07:10 pm
It wouldn't be more fair to make all higher rate tax payers pay more, because those without children would end up paying more out despite not choosing or not having kids. Why should someone earning say, £45,000, happy with their income, have to pay more than someone with 3 kids on the same wage? They should pay the same based on what they earn and if they want to have kids, they should live with the cost.

Also, George, I am not sure if you are suggesting people will go back to living in hovels because of this? It's a ridiculous notion if that is indeed what you are implying.

I'm not reading all the pages, but I just wanted to say, that other than the obvious complication that if two earn under £44k but combined they earn way more, still get it, that's just a flaw in the system and I understand that it would probably cost more to fix. But even if you are a single parent earning over 44K you don't need child benefit.

Best policy I've seen yet from this government. Totally fair.

You're unlucky in love. Case closed lol

clap

Seriously, suggesting that everyone out there won't find their "true" love is ridiculous. Sure, some people settle for 2nd best or don't love as much etc, but they usually break up or divorce!

There are millions of examples of people being truly and totally in love with each other.

But until you meet that person that means everything to you and who you mean everything too, nothing else really compares. I thought I was in love with my last gf, but I really wasn't. It was just an upgraded form of "like". What I have now is beyond anything I could ever imagine. Smile
